We had our son on the crib mattress on the ground for a long time (no railing). He would roll off every night, but it didn't wake him up right away because it wasn't a far fall. He would wake up later in the night because he was cold/uncomfortable. It only stopped when we got him a twin mattress.

@Lilbear: ahhhh. I know a lot of parents swear by using a pool noodle. But I don't see how it'll keep a crazy sleeper from rolling off?? But worth a try?

We have the wooden rail that comes with our crib. Looks like this:

Do you have the mesh rail? Can you adjust the lovation of the rail? We used a crib converter rail and placed it in the middle and it was fine. There was room at the foot and head of the crib.

We converted LO's crib to a toddler bed last weekend, and she occasionally falls out of bed in the middle of the night. (The rail covers only half of the opening.) I'm not concerned about her getting hurt because the bed is low to the ground, bedroom is carpeted, and I leave pillows next to the bed. However, it wakes her up and she's upset when it happens. I have put a rolled up towel under the fitted sheet to help keep her in, but it's still happening. Is this something that they just figure out over time? Did anyone else's LO have this problem? How long did it take before they stopped falling out of bed?
