@Mrsbells: She just pulls them out. I've given up on them at home because they don't stay in. DH is responsible for drop off and I know they wouldn't even make it for the 2 minute car ride to daycare.

@ShootingStar: Love the pigtails! And who cares if they're not even? They're keeping her hair out of her face, and they'll likely need to be fixed throughout the day anyway.

She's so cute with the piggies!!

We did a clip and the whale spout for a long time but she often came home without anything in her hair or we'd get a picture from DC with her hair hanging in her face :bummed: She didn't seem to get the idea of putting it behind her ears even when it was long enough so finally we cut bangs and yes they are a bit of a pain but they are really cute too!

Thanks everyone! I always feel like I have no idea what I’m doing as a girl mom. I put her in piggies today and I’m hoping it won’t be an issue.

@LCTBQE: 😊

They’re not even but oh well lol.

Daycare had these rather large (2.5” wide) Velcro type (the loop side) sheets in animal shapes. They would just swoop them into the kids hair and they stayed really well. I have not been able to find them anywhere. DCP got them in China.

At that age, I would do a whale spout with one of those tiny elastics. They usually stayed in, more or less. I would also buy tiny barrettes to hold back the front of her hair. Daycare never complained and they either reclipped them in her hair or put them in her box if they came out.

Daycare has always managed LO's hair much better than I can! She often comes home with complicated styles that I cannot replicate, they're fine with doing her hair whenever it needs it.

My kiddo is 3.5 and has had 1 haircut-- so her hair can be crazy if it isn't fixed (and was ALWAYS crazy when she was 1-2 and it was just starting to get long). My husband does mornings with her, and doesn't do hair-- so he'd just send her to daycare with wild hair. She learned to tuck it behind her ears :)

@ShootingStar: I've always done hair clips, bows, and haadbands and eventually the girls just get used to them and stop pulling them out. It probably takes a couple of weeks of consistent usage. Now both of my girls (2 and 4) hate hair in their eyes, so they ask for a hair bow first thing in the morning to clip back the hair in front before breakfast.

My DD actually comes home from daycare MANY days with a pony tail or pigtails that the teachers gave her (using the tiny elastics, pretty difficult for any kid to pull those out).

My DD hates anything in her hair, so she has bangs for now. I'm hoping as she gets older she will let me put ponytails and bows in her hair. If not I'll grow out her bangs once she is old enough to keep her hair out of her face.

The teachers can definitely manage her hair though. Most girls in DD's class have some sort of whale spout or pony tail.

We do the whale spout pony most days. Daycare will redo it if it falls out or gets messed up at nap. They also have a supply of elastics if hers gets lost.

My daughter has fine hair and pulled out any rubberband or hair tie, no matter how tight. The tighter it was, the more hair came out with it. Most smaller bows would end up in her mouth too.

What ended up working for us was bows that were a bit bigger that she wouldn't chew on. She wears on of these each day, and I think they work well because the chiffon isn't that fun to chew on: https://www.amazon.com/HipGirl-Chiffon-Flowers-Toddlers-Adults-Small/dp/B008XDARNG/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1509030618&sr=1-3-spons&keywords=chiffon%2Bhair%2Bclips&th=1

I put DD's hair in pigtails in the morning before daycare. She doesn't pull them but daycare always ends up fixing her hair at some point during the day. I'm sure your daycare is used to dealing with toddler hair so I'm sure you're fine either way.

Awww cute! So DD usually wants her hair loose in the morning, but she doesn't mind if one of the day care teachers does pigtails later. The day care has a supply of hair ties for the little girls. They do the pigtails really tight so the bands don't fall off - which isn't great, but when I do them loosely at home they tend to fall off.

One time she came home with six pigtails. Took off her hat, and there they were

My DD’s is 14m and her hair’s starting to really get in her face. On the weekends I tend to put it in pigtails, but usually she pulls them out at some point, mostly at nap.

I have been reluctant to put anything in her hair when she goes to daycare because I figure it’ll just come out and some point and I don’t want it to be a choking hazard for another kid (so far she hasn’t seemed interested in putting them in her mouth). But looking at her this morning I think we’re going to have to start doing something or it’ll be in her eyes. I don’t want to cut it because then we’ll have to maintain her bangs.

Should I just send her to school with hair ties and and the teachers manage it? Or wait until she doesn’t pull them out?

Picture for reference (and cuteness 😊).
