They would just swoop them into the kids hair and they stayed really well. I have not been able to find them anywhere. They usually stayed in, more or less. I would also buy tiny barrettes to hold back the front of her hair. It probably takes a couple of weeks of consistent usage. The tighter it was, the more hair came out with it. Most smaller bows would end up in her mouth too.</p> <p>What ended up working for us was bows that were a bit bigger that she wouldn't chew on. So DD usually wants her hair loose in the morning, but she doesn't mind if one of the day care teachers does pigtails later. The day care has a supply of hair ties for the little girls. They do the pigtails really tight so the bands don't fall off - which isn't great, but when I do them loosely at home they tend to fall off. </p> <p>One time she came home with six pigtails. On the weekends I tend to put it in pigtails, but usually she pulls them out at some point, mostly at nap. </p> <p>I have been reluctant to put anything in her hair when she goes to daycare because I figure it’ll just come out and some point and I don’t want it to be a choking hazard for another kid (so far she hasn’t seemed interested in putting them in her mouth). But looking at her this morning I think we’re going to have to start doing something or it’ll be in her eyes. I don’t want to cut it because then we’ll have to maintain her bangs. </p> <p>Should I just send her to school with hair ties and and the teachers manage it?
