I was shocked when DS had flu A and B that one of his symptoms was a terrible dry cough! We couldn't do anything except ride it out.

@littlebug: Paraflu is a different virus of it's own. Here is was very prevalent until flu took over .

@Mrs. Jacks: We're in Central PA. I work on the respiratory floor of the hospital, and just in the past week we've had 3 influenza A cases, and our ID doc says he's expecting it to be pretty rampant in our area. Same thing?

@lawbee11: No, fever is gone. He was just at the doctor on Monday and it was pink eye and ear infection. Fever is gone, eyes look better, but cough is still there and he's so hoarse. Hubs is off with him tomorrow. Maybe I should have him take him back in?

Paraflu is rampant this year... So I would think croup, but I don't know where you live or if it has peaked where you are.

@littlebug: LO had croup about a month ago and I had no idea. Her cough was bad, but it didn't sound like a seal. I took her in and the ped diagnosed her with croup after listening to her chest and hearing her hoarse voice. So maybe take him in? Does he still have a fever? LO had a fever as well when I took her in (but she also had an ear infection).

D has had what I lovingly call "daycare cough" every since the Fall when the older kids went back to school. This weekend, his runny nose got significantly worse, his cough got wise, his eyes started looking red and goopy, and he had intermittent fever (highest was 100.3). I took him to the ped on Monday, since I read you should always get pink eye checked out before the age of 2 (he's 23 months). Anyway, he has pink eye and an ear infection, and was started on antibiotics and eye drops. Today he sounds so hoarse, like he's losing his voice! I feel so badly for him, though he seems to be feeling better. He sounds like he smoked a pack a day for 50 years! Is this normal? I googled it, and everything I read pairs hoarseness with croup, but he doesn't have the "typical" croup cough. Should I be concerned about croup?!
