UK to US has taken about a week each time we've done it too. Jet lag sucks, big time.

@ScarletBegonia: @Gracecat: @Mamacate: @Googly-Eyes: @Lamariniere: Thanks ladies! I'll just have to be patient with the time shift. She did better today - a short nap on her daddy this morning and then a three hour monster nap at noon. Hopefully, tonight will be better.

Plus side, for all my griping about ILs, LO absolutely adores them, which has made today much easier for my husband, who is home with her while I'm at work. He's been able to run a whole lot of errands while she's been following her grandma around and "helping" with the cleaning.

@Scarlettbegonia: Its a welcome back for me - I grew up here! But I'd love to meet another 'Bee mama.

Ugh we had jet lag from Asia to California. Lasted about 2.5 weeks. Do everything you need to and try to ignore your in laws criticism! Sleep is precious!! Black out curtains and white noise are essential for us too. I heard its good to get bright sun during the morning to reset their internal clocks. I feel for you. It's worse when you are staying with other people, hope you can find your own space soon! I tried to gradually move up her bed time then just decided to try to stick to the schedule on local time but I swear nothing worked... I think it just took time...

It took us 3 days to adjust to a 3 hr time difference at Xmas and I honestly thought I would pull my hair out. I agree that it will get better, but not right away, and I would encourage you to do whatever you think might make it less terrible for you and LO in the meantime. Good luck!

And, what an adventure to do such a big move!

It takes my lo about a day per half an hour. So when we go out of town (and it's usually a three hour difference) we spend some time keeping odd hours. Or, I wake her up early from naps and then try to get her down earlier for the night. (Meaning I deal with any fussy behavior from that and just hope the night sleep improves and then work on naps.)

It will pass! Hang in there for now! <3

I've heard it takes one day to adjust for every time zone of difference. For us when we have done US-Europe trips it honestly does take my son about a week to get used to the new time. I would suggest trying to adapt to the new time as you can, but know she will be off for a few days and may be tired or awake at the wrong times. Hang in there, it will pass.

We just moved from LA to Sydney last week and LO's sleep is way wonkier than I expected. Our flight left at 10.30pm on Wednesday and I expected her to fall asleep in the car on the way to the airport and then sleep in the Beco while we waited to board. She did not. She was awake until midnight and then got maybe 8 hours sleep during the 14.5 hr plane ride.

We landed at 6am, Sydney time, and I put her down at 9am for her first nap, and then preserved her normal schedule until bedtime. She was so exhausted she did fine. Then she woke up at 2.30 am, was up until 4.30 am and then up for the day at 5.45aam. She took one 2 hr nap in the morning and then refused all naps except a fifteen minute beco nap.

Yesterday, she did the same thing over night and had two thirty minute naps all day long, Went to bed at 6.30pm, woke up at 3am and is now up for the day at 4.45am.

Also, she has molars coming through. And we're staying with my IL's until we get settled and my MIL believes children should be able to sleep in the middle of the living room with the tv on and thus we are coddling LO by using a white noise machine and blackout curtains.

HALP!
