@Foodnerd81: ha! Yeah, I don’t use the two compartment for juicy things. I would do like apples and crackers or something. Carrots and cheese. I keep the juicy things in the single compartment containers.

@SweetiePie: lol- sistema containers are the other ones I use! But the two compartment one is the one where the juice from her fruit “contaminated” her sandwich.

@Foodnerd81: everything you said. Bentgo in a PB lunchbox and we put the slim ice packs below and one in the mesh pocket on the lid.

If what I have for that day won’t fit, I like the sistema containers. We have a bunch of small ones and also one that has 2 compartments. I can put a bunch of those in his lunchbox and it works well and they are easy for him to open himself.

We love Lunchbots bento box (the medium-sized Trio for our 2 y.o. who’s been using it since 1 y.o.). We want stainless steel and super clean-able (i.e. dishwasher!). I hate the slimy feeling of plastic after awhile and avoid plastic in general in food containers when there’s a better option.

We also use Lunchbots 4 and 8 oz containers with screw top lids for wet things like juicy fruits, yogurt, applesauce so they don’t make everything else wet.

All items (bento, 4 and 8 oz container) can go in a PB lunch bag (style: classic) with room for a pouch or banana to spare, if needed.

I have a Bentgo kids container and like it but wouldn't say I love it. I use it for my 5 year old and find the compartments are a little small for what I usually give her- like you can only fit a small half sandwich in the biggest one. It does contain leaks though, like if I put fruit in one container the juice doesn't leak into another one. It just fits in the PBK lunch box- but barely. and there is space above or below for a thin ice pack. I dislike having to clean multiple pieces though so I like that it's one tray that fits inside. Usually I just wipe down the outside part unless shes had something messy.

We use Ikea’s version of the yumbox. Conpartments come out and are dishwasher safe so you don’t even have to wash the entire thing every day.

I love the yumbox, but find it molds easily. Daycare washes it, but doesn't dry it and therefore we end up with mold (we immediately put it in the drying rack when we get home)

We have 4 Yumbox containers and I love them! Each box has been used around 100 times (taling lunch to daycare daily) and they still function like new.

The only con is that we put them on the top rack of dishwasher (they may say not dishwasher safe but...that doesn't fly in my house) and the underside of the food tray collects water. We flip it out into the sink, give it a quick rinse and let it drip dry.

We got the Yumbox for my four year old kindergartener, and I love it. I like the compartments and the way they’re sealed off from each other.

Hi all,

LO will need a lunch box and container for lunch. Any recommendations would be great! I’ve seen a lot out there... any that works better than others or to avoid... TIA
