@MrsB2012: I hear you on needing the break. But for me, even having her napping in the stroller or car is better than the carrier because I just need to not be touched for an hour. And believe me, the majority of C's naps were either in my arms (preferably attached to a nipple) or in the carrier, when she was tiny. And she was (is) my only so far. But I tried just powering through without the nap yesterday and it was awful. Ugh. I hope yours cooperate today!!

@SleepyMonkey: I'll try that, she has a humidifier in there that has a star light that displays on the ceiling, I'll try putting that on tomorrow. I was wondering if it would distract her as the colours change and keep her awake more.

@Foodnerd81: I seriously contemplated driving around for an hour today when she fell asleep in the car. As soon as I put her in the carrier and we went outside for the walk, she fell asleep within minutes. I want her napping in her crib not on me though! I need the break from her haha

@MamaBehr: thanks

@autumn865: how is your toddler adjusting to the baby? I was wondering if it was because of the baby that she wasn't napping and didn't want to leave us, but think it's weird that the baby has been here for 5 weeks and it's just affecting her now.

Awe sorry to hear about your nap troubles :( maybe it's still the adjustment with the fairly new baby and will pass? I hear ya about the baby and toddler (I have a one month old and a two year old) and te days one or both aren't cooperating to coincide the timing of their naps is exhausting :(

On the days that mine have taken tiny naps, it messes up the big nap. I use to hate the falling asleep in the car, because they would never make the transfer and be cranky the rest of the day.

Maybe she's just being stubborn. I would do the same thing you are doing. Leaving her in the crib at nap and keeping the routine the same.

Good luck!

I've been going through the same thing in and off for a month or so- Lo is the same age. It sucks. I've tried adding a nightlight, which maybe helped a tiny bit? Yesterday I drove around for a few minutes until she fell asleep then sat in a parking lot for an hour and a half- but that is not a long term solution nor does it help you rest! I wish I had an answer!

I think around that age, my LO started to get scared of the dark...maybe you can leave the door open or pull the curtains instead of black out shades?

My 19 month old has been refusing her nap for the last week. She would randomly refuse previously, but hasn't had a nap in her crib now for probably 8-9 days. She 100% needs the nap, she's exhausted, but starts to freak out as soon as she's in the crib. The room is dark ( tin foil on the windows ) there's no toys in her crib aside from her glow worm and her ducky. Nothing in her daily routine has changed. I have a 5 week old baby and my toddler needs to nap so I can nap, I'm starting to go crazy! I read some sleep blogs yesterday and a lot suggested a white noise machine, so I bought one yesterday and have it on. Any tips? When we go for a walk in the afternoon she's been instantly falling asleep in the stroller or carrier, but I don't feel like it's a deep enough sleep for her ( or long enough ) as she's still miserable after. I'd love any suggestions or ideas or anything! I've been leaving her in her crib for at least an hour so that she stays in the routine of going in there, but she just cries the whole time :/
