I think we tried around 2.5 but she tossed it out of her crib. So we waited until she asked. The important thing is that you dont want one too thick because it can strain their little necks. We initially got one from amazon just searched "toddler pillow," but didnt use it long because I got him a new bed set. So, I went to Target and got him the thinnest and most firm pillow I could find. I let DS pick out the animal so he was excited. It is soft and pretty flat compared to an actual grown up pillow. He still has them and he’s 2yo. He likes his rocking chair pillow and I bought a toddler pillow off amazon for him too. I just ordered a travel sized pillow on amazon.
