Do the doors typically open in towards the restroom? If so, you could carry a wedge door stop with you and shove it under the door when you close it.

We stopped using a stroller around then because I was pregnant. But we are really firm with discipline so I could usually keep DS under control for a quick pee. Can you give him a toy to hold, or talk him through it? DS was pretty curious about the whole thing and would try to dash early but now he's a lot better at 2.5. instead he's trying look under the stalls now...

How about offering an incompatible behavior? Like, sing head shoulders knees and toes because you can't open a door when your hands are on your head, etc.
FWIW, at 15 months we start really following through with our kids. So no can mean no at 18 months if you decide you want to work on it.

My only advice is some sort of distraction. My 3.5 year old still likes to open restroom doors on me. At that age though I tried to keep her attention focused on me rather than the door, and I got good at peeing really quickly.

My only suggestion is the door monkey for our apartment. It does keep the door ajar though. I don't know how to help for public places. @Mrs. Microscope:

We have lever door handles throughout our condo. And at 15 months, DD is constantly opening them. Outside doors are locked, but there is no bathroom privacy anymore. If we lock her out, she screams and pounds on the door. I was wondering how to babyproof as well!

@PinkElephant: yikes! Yeah, I try to let him walk a lot of times lately. Usually it's because we're in and out of the car with DS and DH (who uses a wheelchair). No stroller is harder in many ways though. He's much happier out of the stroller but then he gets a little TOO much freedom. Am I the only crazy one who goes stroller free this early?

Ummmm I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but my daughter liked opening the bathroom door on me about until she turned 4....it was super annoying.

As for the levers...is there instead a way to keep him restrained? If it's a single user bathroom, I usually wheel my youngest right into the bathroom in her stroller.

I have a weird problem, but I can't be the only one. DS is tall and at 18 months, he can already open lever door handles. We don't have them in our house, but they are in just about every single-user public bathroom I've seen lately.

I'd really prefer that my toddler does NOT unlock or whip open the door while I'm on the toilet. He at the age where telling him no doesn't have much effect. Any suggestions? Did you LO go through a phase of doing this and eventually stop?
