My son went through a phase where he didn't want his cloth diapers. It was during the time when we were introducing the idea of using the potty & he was going in the toilet. He would say it "hurt" or just cry and ask for "mickey" (the disposables had mickey mouse on them). For a few times, I gave in (and gave daycare permission to give in so they didn't have to deal with a huge tantrum). After a few weeks, I just stopped giving in and dealt with the tantrum. I told him that the disposables are only for sleeping and he can choose which cloth diaper he wants, but he needs to wear cloth. He didn't love that, but he accepted it eventually and shortly after that he started using the toilet more often.

@sarac: I'm pretty sure we are going to get a potty this weekend. She will not sit on the big potty at all.

@daniellemybelle: I'm not sure. The liners we had still felt pretty wet (they were kind of the thickness of a dryer sheet) after being soiled.

Yeah, I would say she doesn't like to feel wet! I wonder if the disposable liners would help - but she may already have the connotation...

That was the start of potty training for us, but it was still another 10 months until it was done, probably. I was happy to switch to disposables at that point, honestly. What ever you do, you should for sure get a little potty and just start making it available for her to use and play with.

@autumnlove: Yeah, we've been doing disposables at night because she is such a heavy wetter, but this cloth diaper boycott makes me so sad! They are so cute and I love that we aren't throwing away so many diapers! Maybe I can compromise with her and do gDiapers with the disposable inserts.

Bummer! My toddler (2 years and 2 months) refuses to wear cloth overnight (double stuffed n bulky) so we put her in a disposable these days.

We tried the potty training process last weekend but I don't think she was fully ready and I just want to delay it for a few months until I am on maternity leave!

Bumping for any other suggestions!

@travelingnanny: I would love to do that but was hoping to wait until she transitions into the two's room at daycare. Her current classroom does not have a bathroom.

For the last few days, H has refused to wear cloth diapers and will only let me put disposables on her. She freaks out when she sees them, says "Ouch", and arches/flails so much that I can't get the diaper on her. She only calms down if I pull out a disposable.

I stripped my diapers last week after they started smelling like a barnyard. I strip using Squeaky Pieces stripper (local brand), but am willing to do a bleach wash if anyone thinks that will help. I can't make them any looser or they gape at the top and she leaks pee. She has started to be very interested in bathroom functions and will tell me that she has pooped, so maybe she dislikes feeling wet?

Has this happened to anyone else? Tips?
