How's this for serendipity? Mil called last night to say she is sending a big package to c, something she is "big enough to enjoy now". She wanted to keep it a surprise but Dh thinks it is a little chair he had when he was a toddler! He could be wrong but how great would that be? So I'm holding off until next week when we receive the package. :)

@Foodnerd81: It could be, maybe? Child chairs are MUCH smaller than adult versions. I just personally abhor hand sewing. So I guess it depends on if you feel like spending time on it. Maybe you could borrow a machine, or have someone make it for you?

Whichever you choose, I request pictures! Because: cute tiny chairs.

My daughter prefers her beanbag over the toddler chair we used to have. She sits on it and reads all the time and also pretends to be a turtle with it on her back.

@Foodnerd81: Hahaha, yes, it's not the cutest... definitely not like the adorable beanbags and little armchairs!

@pinkb: oh my god, that's so cute! We have recliners too.

Hmm... Now I just want both.

@redeyedtreefr0g: no room for both anyway, but I don't have a sewing machine. I'm guessing it is not a hand sewing project, right?

@Beehive: smart! I don't think ours did that but I stores it at my parents house already anyway. Plus it was ugly. :)

We have both, a FatBoy beanbag and a toddler armchair (anywhere chair).

My son uses the beanbag as a landing pad, for when he launches himself off the couch, not my favorite use, lol.

Just wanted to mention a different option - we have just realized we can use the Bjorn Balance bouncy seat as a toddler chair (you can take off the harness and it makes a nice chair for toddlers). DS has been loving it, though he has no other toddler chair. He's almost 2.

@Foodnerd81: We got it at Homegoods. She does recline in it :) We have it next to our recliner in the living room and she loves to sit in hers and tell us to put the bottom up and then tell us to sit in ours and recline at the same time. It is so cute!

ETA the only thing I don't like about it, is part of our is white (what were we thinking) and it is hard to keep clean with a toddler. And the cup holder doesn't fit any of her cups.

We have a bean bag anywhere chair-type and then my mom has a regular anywhere chair and she sits in that regular chair more. At our house she prefers sitting on the couch. She can get up on her own.

My husband and I lived with a friend for almost a year and got to watch her little girl grow- she learned to walk rigth after we moved in, and was learning some words when we left.
She is the most adorable gorgeous little girl I have ever seen.

She had a giant beanbag dog in her house, and the grandparents bought her one of those armchairs to have at their house.

I think the beanbag was much more popular. She'd share it with the dogs, always fall asleep in it in some really odd positions sometimes, and she'd watch that gaba tv show in it.

She ignored the armchair for quite a while, until she realized it was a chair, and it was specially for her. I think she ended up loving it.

I vote for a bean bag. It may or may not be a choice biased by owning a store-bought denim pear-shaped one in the past (most comfortable thing EVER) and having recently sewn my own.
I can't use it now at Grandad's because the dogs will pee on it :crying: It's a fabulous velvetly sage green.

Go beanbag!
Or, buy the chair, and then make a beanbag and have both! Beanbags are super simple.

We have bean bags and the kids love them!

DS's is big enough for 2 people.

However, if it was going in the living room (bean bags are in playroom and bedroom) I would opt for a chair like you posted above

I have seen that one at Homegoods! I actually DON"T think it's that great for kids, because it's a rocker--I could totally see my LO trying to jump into it or off it and it rocking and him falling off. ETA oh wait is that one not a rocker? in that case, never mind! :)

We have a PBK anywhere chair and he loves it. There are beanbag chairs at the place we do classes and he LOVES those too--loves jumping into them. So I really think you can't go wrong with either!

@pinkb: where did you get the recliner? Does she actually recline in it? I think the one I saw was a reg armchair not recliner (just found this pic online).

We have a bean bag, an anywhere chair, and the mini recliner you posted above (in a different pattern). This recliner had gotten the most use by far. The bean bag almost never gets used and the anywhere chair she has just started to use in the last few months but still not much. LO is 22 months.

C is 14 months and obsessed with little chairs. Anytime we go someplace with a little armchair or toddler Adirondack chair she loves it. So, even though we are pretty short on space, I really would like to get her her own little seat.

DH likes the idea of the little bean bag seats they have, since he thinks it would be easier to stash wherever, and fun to sit or lay on. She hasn't actually used one though so no idea how she would like it.

Anyone have a preference of one over the other? My ideal chair, which I cannot find in person, is this one. Our friend has it, got from Homegoods a year ago. If anyone has seen it online tell me! They had a similar one in hot pink yesterday at Homegoods, but since it's going front and center in our living room, I was hoping for something slightly more subtle :)
