@brownie: my daughter does the same too. I'm sure he'll eventually get it sorted out. My daughter is better about it now but she used to spew out sentences with the words in random order as well.

My 2yo messes up the order too, sometimes even mixing up parts of words (he'll say "got for" instead of forgot). He just recently started getting pronouns correct more frequently.

@looch: @lamariniere: thank you. I was worried it was part of his delay.

My son (almost 3) also confuses pronouns and word order. Until just a few months ago he would say things like "I'm going to get into bed by himself" instead of saying myself. I just kept repeating it correctly every time he made the mistake.

My son is 3 and he still messes up some word order in longer sentences. He does also say "pick up me" which I consistently correct, but I am convinced someone in daycare repeats incorrectly.

@BoogieBea: it isn't just the pronouns. It is that the pronoun is last in the sentence instead of in the middle.

My daughter is almost 2 and a half and she gets her pronouns mixed up as well. She'll say things like "I want mama help you" when she really means " I want mama to help me". She's just starting to figure out what "you" means because I am starting to see her use it correctly. My son was speech delayed as well and this same issue was the first thing I noticed when he started speaking more.

My son is 2 1/2 and he is about 6 months behind in expressive speech. We started speech therapy about a month ago but I haven't been able to ask them this question since the cancelled his last appointment and our therapist left.

He has started to talk more since we have been forcing him but he is doing some funny things I just want to know if it is normal development for a 2 year old.

He reverses word order in sentences. Example "pick up you" for pick me up. Anyone else see this? He's done it a few other times but that is the one we see the most. We ask him to copy us but he cannot say anything between pick and up.

But for successes he now says "I want thing please". No "I see" or I in any other context.
