@MamaCate: It stopped for us as well, I too think it was related to separation anxiety. Hang in there!

@MamaCate: For us, it was just a phase. She hasn't woken up screaming/crying for about a week now. It definitely wasn't teething related, so i think it may have been separation anxiety or some developmental milestone. Poor you!

I don't think my advice really helped @keiki_mama though!

@Freckles: @betsyboop: I was just looking for info on crazy screaming like a night terror in the middle of the night and found this post! My 22mo LO has been doing this the past few nights and we are all a wreck. Can you tell me more about how you handled this and if it is still happening? Thanks!

@keiki_mama: Good luck! There was one week where i had to push LO's bedtime to 8pm (she was waking up really late from her nap) and she went down much more easily. She's now back to a 7-7:30pm bedtime.

@keiki_mama: 7pm may be too early? That's only 4.5 hours of awake time between nap and bedtime. How about if you pushed his bedtime back by 30-45 minutes to see if that would make a difference?

This kid didn't fall asleep until 10 PM last night! FML! I really hope this phase passes quickly.

@keiki_mama: What time does he wake up from his nap? On the weekends, when LO takes a 2.5 hour nap and wakes up at 2:30, she won't fall asleep until 7:30-7:45pm.

@betsyboop: Yes, like she's having a night terror, right?? Last night i had JUST started to fall asleep when she started crying. Thankfully, DH got up to soothe her. She's been doing this every few days for the past week!

@keiki_mama: It just started a few nights ago, happened 2 nights in a row, and then last night was the first night she didn't do it. I'm wondering if it will happen again though. My LO is only 16 months...

@Freckles: Mine too! And it starts off as screaming like she had a bad dream, then turns into fake crying, and then if I ignore her, it's back to screaming! Next time she does it, I'm making DH go in to soothe her!

It could be separation anxiety. Mine is 17 months old and she's been waking up in the middle of the night screaming!

Is your LO more attached to you or your SO? I wonder if it would work if the less attached parent put him down to sleep?

Do you think it could be separation anxiety? I think that's often the cause of sleep issues at that age...my LO isn't quite 18 months yet but was having a couple nights of interrupted sleep so I was doing some web searching and came across several sites that pointed to separation anxiety.

LO is 1 1/2 year old and for the past few nights he's been fighting bedtime. We've had the same routine since he was 2 months old and he's decided he doesn't like it anymore. I did notice three premolars coming in and I'm wondering if his teething is throwing off his sleep? Our bedtime routine starts at 7 PM and goes like this:

-bath time
-dry off, cuddle time
-read a couple of books
-brush his teeth
-put on his sleep sack
-crib

He usually has NO PROBLEM going in his crib and will stay awake in his crib for a while chatting to himself. He sleeps through the night and gets between 10-11 hrs a night. Takes great naps that usually last 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

I've tried giving him teething pills an hour before bedtime and turning off the TV an hour before (though it's never bothered him before). I tried putting him down for bed earlier thinking he needed more sleep and he started WWIII with me.

He used to be such a good sleeper! Please tell me this is just a phase. Help! What do I do?!?!
