@ALV91711: thank you! It really is so much harder at this age. I am really sad for LO but I really don't know what else I can do (short of holding him all night, which I refuse to do)....
@Pumpkin Pie: Your night just sounds like mine. He freaked out as soon as we brought him into his room. It's like he's scared of sleep or his room (or both?) all of a sudden. It took us 35 minutes tonight. I really hope it gets better for us both soon. Oh yeah and this morning, he woke up about 45 minutes early, on top of his sleeping late last night due to the CIO. And yes, I read about that 18 month regression. My guy hasn't had a regression before so I was refusing to believe it. But it could be true. That might be my next sleep question on HB....

@BabyTsMom: It might be a coincidence, but I just read there is an 18 month sleep regression. Could it be? I hope sleep goes smoothly in your house soon. We had to CIO today and it took about 25-30 mins. As soon as I tried to put her in her sleep sack, she freaked out, so I took her out, and put her on the floor, and she went zooming away to play. I figured there was nothing actually wrong, and she is fighting sleep because she wants to play, so we did CIO today. It is painful.

I hope sleep goes back to normal soon. Listening to them cry wen they are older is hard.

@Pumpkin Pie: last night it took 25 min, but before that we had tried picking up/put down a couple of times. So it took a total of about an hour. :/ and now we're currently CIO.....we'll see how long it takes tonight.

@BabyTsMom: I think we agreed going to have to do CIO again also. How long did it take your LO to fall asleep?

@littlecasita1122: it's good to hear that a few nights of "breaking the rules" didn't have a long term effect. You're lucky it was only night sleep!!
@Pumpkin Pie: yeah he did but it took a while! and he has much bigger lungs at the age! :/

@BabyTsMom: Did your LO fall asleep by himself after the CIO? I've heard that after a sickness, you sometimes have to do the whole sleep training thing again.

I feel like like I'm always doing some form of sleep training.

This happened to us once, right around the same age. My LO would refuse to go to sleep without laying on my DH all night. It was a pretty rough few nights with convincing him to fall asleep in the crib on his own (I remember my DH sleeping on the floor one night next to the crib), but then after a few days it got better. Luckily his naps weren't disrupted, just the night sleep.

So my 18 month old was sick with a stomach bug earlier this week and had to be held to sleep for one night due to frequent vomiting spells. Since then, his naps and night sleep have really gone downhill. it culminated to us having to CIO for bed time last night because wouldn't settle. And for nap yesterday and today, it's a total freakout session as I'm trying to do his nap routine... currently he's screaming from his crib. :crying:
I just don't know what to do. He still seems slightly under the weather but for the most part is acting ok. He was sleep trained at 4 months and sleep has been pretty much ok until now..... Does anyone have any advice? My heart breaks for my poor little guy.
