We had some sleep issues last month,.. Our LO is in a toddler bed. We put a baby gate at his door so if he didnt stay in bed, he wouldn't be able to escape his room. The first night he cio for 20 mins, next night 3 mins, next night he stayed in bed. Our sleep issues happened after DH and I went away for a week vacation without LO. The cio method works for us.. But obviously if your LO vomits or anything that is harmful, I wouldn't suggest cio method. I know some friends who sit quietly in the room until LO falls asleep and slowly transition further away from the bed/crib.. We tried that before the baby gate but our LO started to take advantage and would freak out and cry when he woke up in the middle of the night and we weren't there. Goodluck... Hopefully you find a solution soon. Sleep training can be difficult but know you aren't the only ones going through it! :)

@winniebee: She is still in a crib. The crib has never been an issue until now, so this has made to start to think about when to change her. She still struggles with MOTN wakings and very early wake ups, so I wasn't sure if she'd be more likely to get up if she had the access. Go figure, GOING to sleep was the one thing she was good at when it came to sleep!

@pinkb: Oh no. It hasn't come to vomiting here, but there are sure times it sounds like that's what is going on in there. Good luck to you too!

No advice, just here to say I feel your pain. We are going through the same thing. It feels like it is something different every night that end up helping. The most common is I sit by her crib or stand in the door way until she falls asleep. I hope it gets back to normal for you soon!

ETA I have chalked it up to the 2 year sleep regression. I have tired CIO and it just goes on for hours and has several vomit episodes so I have been trying other things.

My 24 mo old has never been a good sleeper. It seems we get past one issue and then it's something new. So here's my current battle...

She generally has able able go to sleep without any fuss. Up until this past weekend. She refused to sleep in her crib on Saturday night and for her nap on Sunday. My husband was out of town Thurs-Sun, so I was hoping him getting back last night would put us back in a normal routine. It did for last night. But tonight, he had to go to a holiday party, so it was just me at bedtime. She started thrashing when I was trying to pick her up and has been standing in her crib screaming for me for the past 30 minutes.

I'm not sure if this is coincidental, a separation issue from her dad being gone for a few nights, or her two molars that are finally breaking through.

Would you let her cry it out in a case like this?

And, if it is a separation issue, any tips on how to handle her dad being gone on a two week trip in January? She usually isn't nearly as attached to him like she is me, but I suppose the change of routine might be tough.
