@BoogieBea: Yeah, the active sleeper thing is probably the bigger problem. He kept waking me every time I felt a limb hit me. Or he'll snuggle so close to me (not that I'm complaining!) and make me hot (b/c of no power). I can see how you get used to that though. I guess it just didn't work for me b/c I want both boys to get good sleep, especially when there's no power and I already have trouble sleeping. His little brother woke him up at 7:15am and that was just too early for him (and us for a Saturday!).

@Mrs. Bee: Yeah, I think you're right about not knowing what to do, especially with so much space! Now I'm a little worried when we move him into a big boy bed in the next month. It's going to be a really big boy bed b/c we have two extra queen beds. I did offer to go with him to his room last night until he fell asleep but he refused. :( Hopefully this won't be a frequent event! Although, I do have to say that it was so sweet having him there in between us for once. :) I love that boy so much!

I used to hate having LO in our bed as well. He's an active sleeper and would toss, turn and kick us all night long. Now we've just gotten used to it. But to keep him out of our bed, my husband now sleeps in his room to help him go to sleep.

Aww i think he just wasn't used to it and didn't know what to do!

Charlie is actually used to us sleeping with him now that we lay next to him in his bed until he falls asleep. Could you lay on the floor next to his toddler bed instead?

We had a major thunderstorm last night it knocked out power to over a million people in our area with winds upward to 80 mph. We lost power and the storm scared my 3 y.o. so he slept with us in our bed last night. Thank goodness for a king bed! It was our first time having him in our bed last night and I have to say that I don't care much for it. He woke up around 4 am crying b/c he didn't know where he was at and then spent the next 2 hours moving around, sitting up, and trying to get off the bed to go see his little brother sleeping in a co-sleeper on my side of the bed. And then he kept asking what that noise was. It was my 12 week old and 11.5 y.o. dog snoring! I couldn't sleep until he was asleep so I was up on and off during those two hours. And then when he finally fell asleep he started to put his legs and arms all around both of us. He even sat up and moved his head to the foot of the bed. We probably all got about 5-6 hours of sleep total last night. I thought we would have a major toddler meltdown all morning but it wasn't too bad and now he is taking a nap. I hope it'll be a long one to make up for lost sleep last night.

I don't know how you parents out there do it with a toddler in your bed. You are brave!! What do you do to get some rest with a toddler in your bed? I'm sure this won't be our last time with him in our bed so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
