@lamariniere: We have gloves similar to that too! I love the longer cuffs - makes it so much easier to stretch it over their jacket and it doesn't just fall off.

@shopaholic: Over the jacket is easiest for us. LO has a Patagonia down sweater jacket, and I don't think the elastic on the cuffs will comfortably go over the mittens.

DD had the Tassu (from the same brand) as her first real snow mittens and they worked really well, but were too short to put on top of the snow suit. I worked really well when I remembered to put them on before the suit, especially with those inner thumb guard things they have to really keep them in place.

Basically what the pp already mention about the zipped gloves. These look especially easy to put on.

@GreenThumb: Yes, we need something definitely waterproof. As much as kids fall in the snow and learning, I expect she'll get wet.

We saw these the other day and would have bought them if they were in LOs size:
http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/baby-puff-mitts?p=60551-0

Not sure if they would hold up with skiing (they are just water resistant, not water proof), but the thing I liked about them is that they were not bulky at all and also have the split to make them easy-on, easy-off.

I bought a pair from Costco this year that have been working well for us. Zipping the mittens on help a lot to make it stay on.

How about a glove that opens wide so getting them over the thumb is easier? Like these:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L4H6RXC
or these which are similar but also have a longer cuff:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DW2FH42/

DH is planning to really start teaching DD 2.5 how to ski this winter. I despise and loathe the entire glove/mitten situation. It's such a pain to get them on/off. So far, we've only found mittens with a split thumb. Getting that said thumb in the glove is a struggle. Getting the whole darn glove under OR over the snow jacket is another PITA. Ugh... IDK how people do it every day in snowy regions. Advice, tips, links? Help me, because I already foresee mommy losing it on slopes.
