My daughter's taking one bottle at night (almost 18 months). Up until last week she was taking around 6oz. of milk, but then she suddenly just started dropping ounces. Last night she only drank 3 ounces! I'm hoping this is the beginning of her weaning from the bottle (She weaned from BFing last month), because I've been stressing a little trying to figure out how we'd get her to stop taking one at night.

We just finally put the bottles away last week. LO is 21 months in a couple of days. It was okay, but it took a ton of sippy experiments before we found a worthy substitute

My LO is still only 17-months (as of tomorrow) but I'm trying to devise a plan to get him off the bottles. I think it's a comfort and relaxation thing for him since he never really got to using pacifiers. Oddly enough I used a bottle until I was 3.5 years old. :silly: Hopefully we'll get him off the bottles before then!

This thread is making me feel better... My 22 month old still gets at least 2 a day... More on the weekends because we cave in. He was doing good, then we regressed.... I'm hoping in the next few months we can drop it. Now that he is talking more he is always asking for it!!

The morning bottle is the one I can't imagine dropping, he will freak. At night we just do water in a bottle and not every night, so that one we should just phase out - I think adding water helped since he doesn't care as much without milk!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: we only have ONE bottle left, so if we ever lose it or something, I'm not buying anymore! I will totally cave as well, so it's gotta be out of the house.

@loveisstrange: yea, I'm worried about that aspect as well! My LO has about 5-7oz right before bed and always wakes up SO wet, so it's going to be challenging

@T.H.O.U.: I've tried giving her sippy cups or straw cups with milk and she wants nothing to do with them. i imagine she will get used to it, but it's still tough...I might wait until closer to 2...

@BunnyDragon: crazy november babies! :silly: yea, it's DEF a comfort thing for my LO too...she asks for it when she's upset and crying. I'm not really too concerned about it, and I'm sure she wont need a bottle when she's 5 (at least I hope not!!) but I wanted to see if anyone else out there also had toddlers still using bottles!

@NovBaby1112: I swear, nov/12 babies must all be exactly the same. I commented on your LO's biting problem a little while ago because my nov/12 has a biting problem.
My Dragon still takes the bottle. He get his baba in the morning and at bedtime just like your baby. He gets his am baba in a straw cup and pm baba in a bottle. I tried and failed the straw cup for his pm bottle. Must be a comfort thing. If he eats most of his dinner, I skip his pm baba and he doesn't complain. His older brother, Bunny dropped his pm bottle and baba completely at 23 mos.

Around age two. We really started with a night time bottle when we weaned from BF at 18 months. Slowly she got over the bottle and went to a sippy cup(she was using them during the day anyways). Shortly after we weaned the paci.

Confession? My almost 2.5 year old still takes hers to bed full of water. Im scared to take it away but we have to before we start potty-training... so its going to be soon.

We took hers away pretty close to 2 years. It was a nightmare.

I know she had it for sure at 17 months, but I don't remember exactly when we got rid of it.

I had to throw them all away. The temptation was too strong! I cave at her hysterical crying.

confession: my 21 month old still gets a morning and bedtime bottle. We had successfully weaned around a year for a month or so, but then we travelled and she got sick and wanted her "baba" again, so I mistakingly gave it back to her and now she is addicted. I am terrified to take it away now!

any other late bottle weaning toddlers out there?? what age did you take the bottle away forever? how did it go?
