@MamaMoose: good to know! i was also wondering if it could be allergies. DH and I don't have seasonal allergies so I wasn't sure. thanks!

@Andrea: It could also be seasonal allergies. My husband and I both get really bad eye gunk in the morning when our allergies are flaring up. And allergy season is starting early and strong this year.

It could be an eye infection (from rubbing food in their eyes) or a blocked tear duct. My LO has dealt with both. In fact, we just finished a round of ointment to clear up an infection.

could be bacterial conjunctivitis? charlie had it recently. he had a fever, eye gunk, but his eyes were slightly red (barely noticeable).

he had to get antibiotic drops and stay out of daycare for a day (where he caught it!).

The LO has been waking up the last few days with more eye gunk than normal. There is some dried up around her eyes and then some wet ones in the corners of her eyes. It is white in color. Her eyes are not red and there is no discharge throughout the day. And no itchiness so I don't think it is pink eye. She had a slight temp of 100.3 for a few days last week so maybe this is a residual cold symptom? I've been Googling and people say it's another way of mucus coming out when you have a cold. Has anyone ever seen this?
