@JennyPenny: thanks! Yeah she had a little nasal congestion earlier in the week, and Claritin seemed to help with that, but now the fever has popped up. I’ll do a little more Claritin to see if that helps. She did get an ear infection about a month ago after struggling with sinus congestion so she does seem to be prone to it.

@castilrm: seasonal allergies can definitely cause ear infections. I can't remember the details, but I have a vague memory of my ped recommending giving my son benedryl for a few days when he had some sinus congestion that was showing the start of turning into an ear infection, but hadn't quite yet. I think the office was about to close for a holiday and so I wouldn't be able to get an antibiotic rx for a while. Either way, could be worth a try?

ETA: He's just about to turn 3, so he was probably of similar age to your LO.

Apparently my 2 year old has decided to challenge my current level of stress and anxiety by appearing to be sick. Her energy and appetite levels are low, clingy, and low grade fever. No obvious other symptoms of illness (no sneezing, coughing, ear pulling). At first I dismissed the low energy and appetite as potentially seasonal allergies related since mine are currently flaring up or feeling “off” due to be home for a month. But the fever threw me for a loop this afternoon especially considering she hasn’t seen anyone other than family or been out of the house in weeks. No one in the family appears to be sick, at least as of now. How in the world could she have gotten ill?? Anyone with any experience with allergies causing ear infections or fevers in toddlers? Since she’s still young, we’ve never tested her for seasonal allergies. I’ll call the doctor tomorrow if the fever sticks but hesitant to go into a doctor’s office right now unless absolutely have to. Thanks!
