I would do two twin beds or a daybed with a trundle! I love the look of the perpendicular beds that you posted!

I actually had a daybed and it was wonderful! It only took up enough room for one twin bed, and when we had guests over, I could just pull the 2nd bed out from under the other bed.

Twin beds are really convenient for "mixed company" guests...they know each other/ like each other, but don't necessarily need to share the same bed.

If I got twin beds, I think I would put them perpendicular in the corner. I love that look for a kids room!

I think the twin beds is a good idea. But what are you planning to do with the smaller nursery when DD moves into the bigger room? If you aren't having another LO right away, is there any way to put guests in there? Probably not with a king size bed, I guess, but just wondering if that's an option so you don't have to displace your daughter when guests come.

What about bunk beds? My cousin just did this for her kids. They wanted their own rooms but they still needed a guest room. The bottom bed is a full, and the top is a twin. Since your LO is still little, she can sleep on the bottom and when she gets older she can move to the top bunk.
Something like this
http://www.roomstogokids.com/product/Beds/Creekside-White-Wash-Twin-Full-Step-Bunk-Bed-w-Chest/3660092P/
She found 2 sets on Craigslist (she has triplets)

If you don't like that idea. I do think twin beds would be cute.

We have the trundle bed set up like Blackbird suggested. It is great for guests but saves space when it's not in use. Also, DD likes it pulled out so one of us can lay down with her before she falls asleep. I wonder if you could even get 2 twins and push them together when guests come (if needed).

I think the twin beds are a good idea! Plus they take up less room than bigger beds. And eventually, you could probably remove the lower twin bed, if you want...and then put a desk under there (loft it, college style). Also, consider a trundle bed! One of my friends had one of those when I'd sleep over and it was awesome!

I like the idea of two twin beds. I would have loved this as a kid for when friends stayed over. Also, if you had guests that didn't like the idea of two beds, couldn't they always be pushed together?

I am starting to think about my DD's big girl room that I am hoping to set up in the next 6 months or so.

We are moving her out of the nursery (front bedroom) to the back guest bedroom which is larger (we have a king bed plus a corner desk, its a big room). We want the room to still function as a guest room too for when my parents come to visit (which is about every other month).

So, I don't know what size bed to get her. I was thinking about doing a queen bed because then its easy for when my mom and dad come to visit. DH wonders why we don't just keep the King bed thats in there but I think it takes up too much room and I want her to have more floor space.

My mom brought up that she thinks we should do a room with two twin beds. She said they would be ok with sleeping in separate beds when they visit and she said that way for sleepovers the friend can have their own bed. She said it also would be nice not to have to kick DD out of her room if my brother or sister or a babysitter wanted to stay the night.

What would you do?
