My Lo loves Livie and Luca soft soled shoes. We tried to start her in hard soled shoes but she HATED them.

I have Robeez, and like them. I like that they are the least structured. The Stride Rite pre-walker shoes are much more structured. The ones I have are pretty plain brown sandals. LO can walk pretty well in them, it seems similar to walking barefoot, although we only use them out of the house. LO is semi-walking.

We loved Pedipeds. They have some cute basic styles that were very comfortable for LO when she started walking. I preferred the Mary Jane style for LO.

Robeez held up great outdoors for us; IMO the softer the better I nearly days. Pediped was our next step up. Amazon had free returns if you're not sure on sizing

I love Livie & Luca baby shoes! They're definitely my daughter's favorite. I tend to prefer SKR over Robeez because they seem comfier and seem to hold up better. I've also been happy with a couple of Stride Rite purchases that have held up well and she mostly wears to the playground and out in the yard. Pedipeds and SKR seem to run large for my LO and Robeez are always pretty tts. When I was trying he to figure out shoes for her, I ordered wayyyy too many from Zappos. It was great to try them on at home, kept what I wanted and returned the rest. Made life a lot easier. I even returned some that I liked cause they were on sale elsewhere but at least I knew what size to get then.

Soft soles are fine for outdoors as long as you don't care about a bit of dirt. I think they are better for early walkers because it's more like being barefoot.

In terms of sizing, I have found that the inches measurement given on the shoe size charts to be pretty accurate. Use a tape measure to measure LO's foot and go from there.

We loved both the Pedipeds and See Kai Run shoes. When our daughter started daycare all of the teachers commented on how great the shoes were for new walkers. I got a few pairs on 6pm.com for very cheap!

I really liked the Robeez Mini Shoes, they have a flexible sole and they have some grip, rather than the suede soft sole styles.

@Anagram: I just like the material of SKR more. It's almost softer and seems to conform to her foot better. These are my favorite pair that we own. We've gotten SO many compliments on them!

We have a few pairs of SKR smaller and a couple pairs of Robeez and I MUCH prefer the SKR. They're a lot easier to put on and they seem more comfortable. LO isn't walking yet either, but she has to wear shoes to daycare now.

R wore Smaller SKR for a couple months once she started walking. She was fine in the playground with them.

and you can never have too many shoes for LO!

Pedipeds and Robeez and SKR smaller all have at least 1 shoe in her size on sale. I'm thinking about buying one from each...but then I also think that might be crazy for baby feet that grow quickly.

Decisions, decisions!

My almost-13 month old is still not walking, but she's been cruising for a few months and is now standing on her own, so I expect her to walk in the next 1-2 months.

She will be going back to daycare Sept 2, and her new daycare has an outdoor playground with the rubber type flooring--they also have an indoor playroom for bad weather days. I don't think they take them out when there is snow, but I should confirm that.

Right now at home, she's barefoot all day and I only put shoes on her to go to the park, just because it's dirty there. I have 2 pairs of StrideRites that she's about to grow out of, so I'm looking for something in the next size up for daycare.

I'm been checking out SKR smaller, Pedipeds, and Robeez. Robeez are super cute in general but I'm wondering if the softsoles will be fine for outside at daycare? And are they slippery at all on hardwood or tile floors?

Are all these brands good and basically interchangeable, or are there features that make one better?

And how about sizing? I'm probably going to order online, so if you have any tips about sizing (like they run small or run large or run wide) let me know.
