My daughter started trying to drink out of cups in the bath at around a year, and at 16 months she began to really take an interest in carrying cups/bowls and not spilling. Now at 17 months she uses a cup fairly well. She'll still often forget that she's holding it and just drop it, so we don't really let her carry one around. I've decided to push it more during meal times at my house. I would really like to get rid of the sippy cups. DS was using a regular cup at meal times before he was 2. She has been really reluctant to try and gets angry at me for not just getting her sippy. I have discussed it with her Mom and she is fine with this because she is going to start PreK in the fall and they do not use sippy's. When did your child use a real cup? When do you think is an appropriate age to start? </p>
