I've heard this too about Charmin! We use Kirkland and have never had a problem....and DH is a notorious overused of TP. 😛

@T.H.O.U.: @birdofafeather: good housekeeping did a toilet paper test and they said Kirklands is good for finicky plumbing too! Is that Costco or Sam's Club?

We have issues sometimes because we also save up #1s but it was actually our crappy (rental) toilets to blame as the pipes were fine. Those got replaced and we've been doing much better. We use Kirkland.

Scott's is good for clogs but its REALLY thin and while I don't care personally, I feel a little sheepish when guests come over. We haven't had problems with Kirkland as PP said, and we've had no problems with Angel Soft, which is another budget brand but not as thin and industrial as Scott's. Scott's makes a thicker/cushier TP that's good too.

You could get Scott's and have a package of wet wipes or Kandoo wipes on top of the toilet for AFTER dry wiping and make VERY clear it goes in the trashcan.

We use the Quilted Northern 2-ply. We had clogging issues with the 3-ply Quilted Northern but the went away immediately when we switched.

We've been running into minor issues because of the drought (not flushing #1's). I never considered changing TP. Interesting.

Yup, i've heard the same exact advice. Charmin is just too thick.

We use Scotts and actually like the Kirkland better (just a tad nicer but still no plumbing issues) .

Oh that sucks! I'd never even considered that as an issue. I'm always excited when charmins goes on sale. Maybe I should switch to a less luxurious type...

We've been battling a sewer pipe clogging problem for a few months. Almost 600 dollars later the plumber (2nd one that came out) suggested that Charmin is to be blamed. He suggested switching to single ply Scott's. I did some internet research and turns out though Charmin is very soft on the bum it sucks at dissolving in water. Problematic when you have finicky plumbing, which we do. Sigh. I did some research and we're going to take the plumbers advice and switch to singly ply Scott's. Nothing to lose, right? But I also read that target up & up dissolves really great too.

Anyone else have toilet / sewer pipe clogs and toilet paper was to blame? What did you switch to and did it help?

Eta; we only flush toilet paper down the drain. And evidently we should be flushing then wipe then flushing.
