He was walking and didn't have problems. I think they were even his first shoes! They had hard rubber soles. They didn't slip off or anything but sometimes it was hard to put them on him. Who am I kidding? They are a bit wider than most shoes seem to be and are good for higher arches. They just aren't a good design for toddler feet--they slip off of the heel AND are harder to get on than they should be.
