Skechers have been kind to my wide feet. I also have some croc flats that are really comfy- I heated them up in the dryer then put them on so they conformed to my feet.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: ok we have the EXACT same feet! I too was looking for a Toms substitute (like the way they look...but they fit horribly on me) and stumbled on a pair of Keds Crashback at my Nordstrom Rack! I  them and they are so comfy that I bought another pair in a different color! I feel like they look nice when you are looking for tennis shoe comfort without the tennis shoe look. It does take approx. two wears to break in/soften up the heel though. But once they are broken in they are amazing!

I do have to say if I was going on an ATV I would probably wear normal tennis/athletic shoes though! But the Keds are so light you can pack those too!

I have really wide feet too, no fun :-/ I love Toms but they are pretty narrow -- I've worn them enough where they have stretched out and are now pretty comfy, but they are not ideal for wide feet. I've found Nike to run fairly narrow as well. Despite that, I still own a couple pairs of Nike Frees. No real recommendations though, most of my shoes that fit pre-pregnancy are now super uncomfortable.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Yeah, I would think a good specialty jogging store would be able to measure well. My grandmother had very narrow feet – she always had to special order narrow, or “AA” shoes! I’m sure having a shoe that really, truly fits properly would make a world of difference. Good luck!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I have a couple pairs, i have a pair of black and white, and a pair of light green/white. I've worn both with normal shorts and a more casual top. Fitted T, printed tank top, ect. It's a "mom" outfit for sure, but for touring i think that's okay! It's what I wore to the zoo plus a baseball hat. ha

What about something like this so you at least have somewhat of a strap? They come in wide, and I find Clarks super comfy http://www.zappos.com/clarks-haley-braeburn-black

Honestly I would just invest in a nice pair of tennis shoes. I love my Nike Flex tennis shoes, they are light, comfortable, and if you get the right style looks good with shorts/jeans/ect. I love Toms, but I have narrow feet, I can't imagine they would be comfortable for wider feet.

@MaryM: we are taking a short ATV tour - maybe a miles worth of driving. You're right flats are not ideal for an ATV.

@yoursilverlining: nope. There's a specialty store for joggers- do you think that would be OK to get sized? I also have a Nordstrom close by.

I want these shoes to look cute and pull double duty so I can stick with just bringing three pairs of shoes on short vacay. I'm trying to practice packing light.

The ATV thing is throwing me. Are you looking for comfy flats, or comfy sneakers? (I would want something secure if driving a vehicle like that)

For comfy flats, I LOVE Dr. Scholls (sp) flats. They're really cute now! I have a couple pair I got at Famous Footware for not super expensive. I have wide feet and walk a decent amount for work, and they've been the most comfortable thing I've found. http://www.famousfootwear.com/en-US/Product/33541-1027579/Dr.+Scholls/Black+Metallic+Strip/Womens+Joliet.aspx

For riding an ATV, maybe sketchers has something more strappy?

I would not wear Toms to drive an ATV! I would wear something that doesn't slip off, like sneakers.

Have you ever gone to a specialty shoe store and had them measure your feet and order shoes for your width? (i.e., like order a 7-Wide instead of a 7)

I personally wouldn't buy Toms if you have sensitive & wide feet. I don't have a suggestion, but I find Toms to be super uncomfortable and they are not made for walking, there's no cushion whatsoever!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: hmm, I don't have a similar foot problem, but I also hate flats and love comfoy shoes. I bought a pair of toms on recommendation and LOVE them. I wore them to death - they're filthy - and they fit so well without any problems. They're the kind of shoes I can slip on, walk five miles at the zoo and not worry a out blisters or sore feet. They were hands down worth the price. Mine are three years old now and I still wear them rigorously & they've held up great.

Please help me pick out a comfy shoe that will work well for both sight seeing and driving an ATV.

The problem I have is that my feet are very wide and sensitive. My Chucks and Speerys hurt after a few hours of wear and cause blisters. I have flats that caused a toe sprain after all-day wear. In the store all of these shoes feel great, but really using them becomes painful. My shoes size is a true 6.5, but I wear a 7 a lot because of my wide feet. I have tried going up to a 7.5, but they're too just too big.

Any one else have similar feet/ shoe dilemmas that can recommend a tried and true shoe?
