Another vote for Shrunks air mattress (it has bumpers on the sides so kids don't roll off). Otherwise Regalo toddler cot is also a good option.
I liked the Shrunks when the kids were just out of the PNP. They also have great customer service.

@Calibee: I so agree with you! For a kid that is pretty still in his own bed, DS turned into a squirmy worm. I think he grew 10 extra arms/legs and hit/kicked us all night long.

@Alba4: I agree with @Calibee: about the pack n play. My 3 yr old DS is about the same stats (34lbs & 37in) and still he sleeps in a pack n play at home. He seems to make the tight quarters work for him & never complains he's uncomfy. We all slept horribly when we've tried co-sleeping before on vacations.

We have made a floor bed in the closet before with extra comforters and pillows. Worked great when she was about that age. Now she wants her own queen bed...

@Calibee: yes I agree with this. My son used a pnp for a while and he’s a sturdy, tall boy. Last summer he was at least the measurements given and he spent a whole month in a pnp while we had a shore house. He was perfectly happy with it!

Otherwise we ask the hotel if they have cribs and often they do.

Have you tried a pack n play? Only asking because my three year old is 30 lbs and 38 inches and will still sleep in a pack n play when we travel.

Also—call the hotel. Some hotels provide full sized cribs.

make a little nest on the couch with pillows (push the pack and play against it so he can't roll out). this worked for us on a recent trip where they didn't have a crib for us.

We have this one and love it. It deflates to be pretty small and it's about 9 lbs, so we are able to put it in the suitcase without clothes for air travel.

ETA. We put it in the suitcase WITH* our clothes.

If the room has a couch, turn it so that the back of the couch is facing into the room, so it's like a 3 sided crib. Stuff towels into the wedge between the wall and the couch seat.

@Alba4: I've seen pool noodles used for bumpers on the fitted sheet too. Won't be an option if you're flying though to pack a noodle cut in half.

We are leaving Monday for a week-long trip. For the first half we are staying at a beach hotel that doesn’t provide a crib. My 2 year old is 37 lbs and 38 inches tall, so he has officially outgrown the pack n play. We haven’t coslept since he was an infant and we’d prefer not too. He’s not in a bed yet... Any suggestions?
