As long as the party goers know its outside and to bring a jacket I would keep at it. I am in NC so I would be fine with a high of 57 but I know so many factors can make it feel much colder like if there was any wind. Cloudy always makes it feel colder than if it was sunny also. But I still wouldn't move it inside.

@T.H.O.U.: It went great! Thanks for asking. It ended up being around 52 degrees, but there was no wind at all so it really wasn't bad. My in laws brought one of those outdoor propane heaters for one of the tables and they also went out and bought 2 smaller electric ones that people could stand by. The hot chocolate was yummy and the kids went crazy for the petting zoo. Everyone had a great time!

Thanks everyone! I'm planning on bringing some hot chocolate in a crock pot and my in laws are going to try to find their table top outdoor heater for one of the tables. I think it'll be fine! People should know to wear coats, haha.

If you want maybe send out a text reminding people it's outdoors and it may be chilly.

I'd still have it outside but warn everyone to bundle it up. FWIW I'm in the PNW so that forcast does no phase me at all. I would be out wine tasting in that nice of weather this time of year.

I live in Texas, and I say have the party outside as planned. As long as people know the party is outside, they will make sure to dress their kids appropriately.

At preschool, they would most definitely still have recess in those conditions, so its not like its crazy to play outdoors in slightly cool weather.

We live in the pacific nw, so I personally wouldn't cancel for those conditions. But if you're worried about it, and it's causing you stress, I say cancel it!

@PawPrints: the petting zoo would come to our house as the back up option. They can set up inside, but we'd have them on our back patio. We'd be losing the playground mainly. And space since our house is about 1700 sq ft total. We have a playroom, living room, kitchen as the main party area. And the zoo off the kitchen on the covered patio.

I'm not worried about the rain as much since it's in the morning that it would rain and we'd towel off the playground if it did end up raining.

If you move inside, you'd have to cancel the petting zoo and forgo the playground, right? Is there a backup space/activities?

57 and rainy isn't the greatest, but I'd be really reluctant to cancel the petting zoo and the playground if it were me. Maybe just tell everyone to dress warmly, and hopefully there's an indoor option you could retreat to nearby if it winds up being uncomfortable.

DD's 3rd birthday is tomorrow and it's calling for a high of 57 and cloudy. 30% chance of rain in the morning. The party time is when it would be at its warmest. We're planning on a small petting zoo and there's a playground with a covered pavillion. We're in Texas so we're not as used to cold as the rest of the country. Lol. If it was going to be 60 and above, I'd totally have it outside, but 55-57 is iffy to me. We're planning on having about 20-25 adults, 9 kids.
