My daughter really likes watching Elmo's Potty Song on YouTube. It seems to motivate her not to run off. Maybe going to the toilet at the same time as her might help her get the hang of things?

When I was potty D, I would set a timer to go Off every 45 minutes for him to stop everything and go. He knew it was coming and that he'd get a sticker every time he complied.

We used to sing songs....long ones, like "Wheels on the Bus". I can stretch that song on for a whole lot of verses if needed, haha....my bus had chickens, and dogs, you name it, we had it. A bonus to that one is if we're in public and I'm trying to hurry LO along, a few stanzas usually gets her going - it's her pee cue! :)

My LO thinks that "reading" mommy and daddy's magazines in the bathroom is pretty cool. Maybe come up with something like that that she can do while she's sitting on the potty but that she's only allowed to do in there so it keeps her attention.

@Mrs Green Grass: Glad it's not just E! She's just so interested in everything! Good idea, I will try that.

@Foodnerd81: Haha! Toddlers, eh?! :silly: Maybe I will just ditch potty training again - its not like I mind either way!

We have the opposite problem. C thinks it's so fun to try to use the potty and just wants to sit there forever. She stands, then sits again, asks me to read books. I want to encourage it if she's ready but she just doesn't have to go. So I have no advice.

My son is similar. He needs total quiet to actually pee. I'd maybe start by counting together?

Long story short..... E is so ready for potty training but she struggles to sit and wee on the potty when there's so much fun to be had!

She's distracted by everything. In the bathroom its her bath toys, the empty bath, taps, soap, loo roll.... in the lounge, its the TV "TV on mummy, pleeeease", toys, keys, the remote....

.... She asks to go on the potty but then gets distracted and wont wee. Then she wees 5 minutes later! We've tried to keep her sat there by reading books but she gets frustrated and it becomes a battle of wills, which isn't conducive to potty training!!

Any tips?
