As long as she is eating enough, isnt too warm or overdressed and is sleeping on her back with good air flow around her I would let her sleep

At that age, DD wouldn't go to sleep without a lot of work, so when she did sleep, we let her sleep as long as she wanted. As long as she's eating and still having plenty of wet diapers, I would let her sleep. When she is awake, try tummy time but don't try to keep her up longer than she seems to handle.

@SLR: Make sure baby isn't getting dehydrated. Check for a fever. Otherwise, let a sleeping baby sleep.

There's no such thing as too much sleep in the baby world!!! (Well, except in the very beginning when you need to wake them to eat.)

Color me jealous, my little guy wouldn't take longer than a 45 minute nap yesterday and then fought bed time like never before out of tiredness! Soak it in :)

There were days when my LO would be super sleepy and fall asleep anywhere and everywhere. I read it can be part of a growth spurt... sometimes it precedes a day where they eat all day. I wouldn't worry too much or wake her up.

My daughter has always slept more than normal. She's 9 months old and still sleeps 16-18 hours a day. As long as she's eating and has wet diapers, I'd let her sleep.

Maybe she's going thru a growth spurt. Sometimes babies sleep more when they're going thru a growth spurt.

As long as she's eating enough/having enough dirty diapers I would let her sleep. However, I wouldn't let her go longer than 4 hours between feedings in the day time (that's what my LC told me). Enjoy the quiet time! :)

Try tummy time. That always revs my girl up. I would try to get her to wake a bit just for the sake of getting her to sleep well tonight. But I wouldn't worry about it. Doc told me to only worry about lethargy if I can't get her to wake up enough to eat and it doesn't sound like that's the case for you.

DD has been sleeping pretty much all day. Since waking this am, she's been awake at most only 2.5 hours (most of which was just after waking). Should I be concerned or just let her sleep? I've tried to get her interested in something to keep her alert and awake for at least a little bit, but had no success.

She's nursed only 4 times since waking up this am for only 35 minutes total. She is a super efficient eater though, typically averaging only 7 minutes or so per session.

A little background on DD...She is six weeks old and has had really inconsistent sleeping habits so far. Up until a week back, she'd sleep the vast majority of the day - from what I heard from other moms, more than their babies did at this age. Then last week, she finally started becoming much more alert with longer awake periods and shorter naps. With the exception of a few nights, night sleep has still not been great.
