@hellobeeboston: that's cool!
@808love: LO has been cracking raw eggs and peeling eggs for quite a while. That's all Daddy's efforts. She is really pretty good at whisking. Tonight she helped me make a cornbread soufflé and she was whisking like a pro with a full size whisk. The proper elbow movements and all. I think because we've been doing it for so long, she's getting stronger in the elbow movement!
@HTownMom: the apple slicer is intriguing! Can you snap a picture for me, if possible? Thanks!

Thanks for all the great suggestions everyone!

She's been in the kitchen with us very frequently for more than a year and DH is really great about making sure she's involved. So she's definitely not a newbie in the kitchen. Just looking for more tools to make her involvement in the kitchen easier and safer, without unnecessarily duplicating tools.

On Friday she made herself the teeniest little pizza with very minimal help from us. I only helped her put sauce on. But she rolled the dough out, and put al th fixings on. She was so proud of her heart shaped pizza!

I have a set of Alphabet cookie cuters I"ve had for years, but something like that would be awesome, could help with learning her letters and to spell her own name.

I had one of those lightbulb ovens as a kid, easy bake? I loved to make the cookies. They used to come with teeny tiny cookie cutters.

@bloved: I randomly found a Curious Chef melon baller, knife and peeler this morning. I must have stashed the gift away as LO was too young to use it. Time to use it.
LO also has wavy cutter, rubber spatula, and long princess spoon. I like the ideas given about egg beaters and whisks for future. LO knows how to crack an egg now so I'm hoping she is going to be a good cook someday!

At my daughters Montessori school they have an egg slicer (you open the top but in the egg and then close it to slice), also opening the hard boiled egg is part of the work. Then they have a mini hand held wedge slice juicer. So again you put in the mini lime/lemon wedge and squeeze to put the juice into the glass, they drink the juice they just squeezed. One last one is a apple sliver, they prepare the apple by cutting horizontal slices and then the kids can use the sectional slicer to cut it into 5 pieces by pressing down. Also, a salad mixer is really fun to use to!

They have a whole series of posts tagged "in the kitchen" and a ton of advice/products about kids/toddlers in the kitchen.

I would probably get a "U" shaped vegetable peeler, and a cutting board. IKEA has this play set of utensils that's approved for use with food:
http://m.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/art/80130168/

I'm also planning on cutting down some long wooden spoons to make them more kid-sized. And I'm dying for a learning tower!

I can't wait until LO is old enough to "help" in the kitchen.

@bloved: yes! I was planning on getting the 3 knife set. I wonder how long the knife in that kit you posted is. Because we don't really need the two larger knifes in the 3 piece set.

@tinyperson: thanks! I'll check it out.

@erinbaderin: cute idea! I have a big bucket of cookie cutters that has pretty much everything imaginable. 😂

@yoursilverlining: aw a animal handled whisk is super adorable. She LOVES animals.

LO uses little whisks - my mom found small sized ones with a pig on the handle that are perfectly kid sized. Wooden spoons with shorter handles, small sized spatulas, and I let lo press the buttons when we use food processor, blender, etc

@Ash: thanks :) I'm looking for real life help in the kitchen, not for play.

@Foodnerd81: yup! We need new whisks so I'm going to get a 3 pack and give her the smallest one has "hers". :) We already have measuring cups and she can handle them just fine since they're small.

My 2 year old loves to mix things, so a small whisk that's just hers is her favorite. She's not really big enough to help with cutting or anything. Maybe a set of measuring cups that's just for her?

We'll like to get a few more kitchen tools for our 3.5 year old.
She currently has a wavy vegetable cutter she uses for cutting food. She has a kid sized rolling pin and two functional aprons. She already has the Melissa and Doug chefs coat and hat. :)

I have a nylon "knife" set on my list already.

Do you have anything else in the kitchen for your little chefs?

Thanks!
