@mediagirl: No, it's helpful! It made me think about how much toothpaste we're putting on his toothbrush. I think we might be putting too much?

@mediagirl: I think that is easier to visualize! I try to just put in a little bit, but I am not very scientific about it!

You ever start a thread and then, after the responses come in, wish you hadn't? :) I didn't realize my helpful tip would be so unhelpful!!

Ok we've been doing something probably closer to an M&M!! I don't even really think too hard about it, since we started recently toothpaste is usually oozing out when I open the tube and I just get the end of it.

And I agree with @mrsbells.. isn't a grain of rice harder?

I know a grain of rice seems harder to achieve than a pea.

A grain of rice? That seems so tiny! Well, we eat short grained rice so one grain of rice is miniscule. :) We just put a tiny glob of toothpaste and smear it with our finger so that it's a thin, thin layer.

When we were at M's 15 month appointment, we talked about brushing teeth. I asked about this whole "pea sized" amount of toothpaste nonsense, considering no one I know can get something resembling a pea onto a toothbrush.

She said, "squeeze out a grain of rice." Now that made sense! I thought I would pass that tip on to any other moms out there trying to figure out how much toothpaste to use for your lo. :)
