What is your policy on keeping the center sanitary?
What is the teacher to student ratio?
Who is able to enter the front door? Do they need an access code?
Who can pick up my child? How do I know this rule is being followed?
And since you have a newborn: what is your policy on belly sleeping?

So, LO is due in Jan and I will be going back to work in early April, but since I am a teacher, I only need childcare for 7-8 weeks. Then I'll be home for June & July, and my ILs are moving here to retire and provide "grandmacare" in late July.

Since I only need childcare for such a short period of time, I've mainly been planning to ask one or two of my SAHM friends to take care of baby for that time (for good money, obviously). I "put it out there" in my social groups and I have one SAHM that's interested and one interested grandma that's done in-home daycare for 35 years. However, due to various drawbacks, I'm not 100% on board with either of these options and I am considering some VERY local daycares - as in, 5 minutes away from home/work, and that's my limit.

Anyways, I'm visiting 3 daycares soon, and I am overwhelmed by the "daycare interview" threads I see posted here. Since it's only for 7-8 weeks, my main concern is just safety, basic interaction, and cost. I don't want to go in with a list of 30 questions/concerns to talk about.

If you were in my shoes, what would be the top 3-5 things you'd want to discuss or see?
