I found this one that i think will work well in our space upstairs and I would paint it black & put in baskets that matched my decor:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/RiverRidge-Kids-Bench-with-Cubbies-White/22716987

but I'm going to look into the Target one for the basement. I love the idea of a long bench with storage down in her play area.

@LuLu Mom: :( At least the Target ones are very similar, so hopefully one of those configurations could work for you? Ikea's shipping is so insane!

@lemondrop: I LOVE the Ikea shelf with the baskets, it would be perfect for us, but the closest Ikea is like 8 hours away and shipping to me is over $350 dollars :(

@mediagirl: The amazing thing is that none of the drawers are even full yet!

Yes, usually he only gets a drawer or two a day. I was having a baby-making-me-feel-crappy day, so I let him go at it and dump everything, then reorganized and purged some of the outgrown toys (I do this about once a month). When everything is put away, it actually doesn't even look like we have a kid in the house (which is a space of about 2 hours at night) :silly:

We have a cube storage shelf from Target and canvas cubes for some of the shelves. I bought it before we even got married and it's held up really well, even after several moves.

We have several things scattered around the house (we also rotate toys on random days- I open a different drawer or area), all also double as seating options since space is at a premium in our house- a Toys R Us toy box, a large wicker laundry hamper with a cushion on top (for larger/taller toys), and a single layer Ikea Expedit with Target wicker baskets. The Ikea one is my favorite, it holds an ungodly amount of toys! I have a photo below of it without the cushions on top during a re-organization night:

We have cube storage and a toy box. We also have some toys in a closet. However, we have a whole bunch more toys we need to find spots for. I'm thinking maybe I should do toy rotation...

In the living room I have woven baskets that I put his toys in. I can easily pick them up and move them into another room if needed or leave them in the corner and not be too much of an eye sore. Upstairs in the playroom I have the Ikea bookshelf and I have storage cube baskets in a few of the holes. I keep small toys in there. Larger toys I leave on the shelf for him to easily get to. I also found a large cotton basket (about 2 1/2 feet tall) at Home Goods. I use it for stuffed animals.

So Christmas brought LOTS of new toys. Currently we have a custom made toy box in our living room, that takes up a LOT of room. I would like to move it to the basement & maybe put up a small shelf with baskets for her toys? Any toy storage solutions that you have that you love or know of? It would be nice to have her easily access (legos/doll stuff/blocks) but for me to conceal when we have company!

Alos, we do not have an Ikea anywhere close, so unfortantely they are not an option!
