DS is 9 months now.
Oball was a huge favorite when he was a little younger:http://www.amazon.com/Oball-4-inch-Infant-Rattle-Colors/dp/B00188XW26/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1435609644&sr=8-1&keywords=oball

His current obsession is stacking cups. He can't stack them, but bangs them together. He refuses to let them go, and crawls around the house holding one in each hand. http://www.amazon.com/Green-Sprouts-Stacking-Cups-Count/dp/B00ENOOE3S/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1435609657&sr=8-5&keywords=stacking+cups

He hated swings, but loves the rainforest jumparoo too. They are always showing up lightly used on our local Facebook moms groups.

@youboots: The Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo is what we have and she loves it. It sets up super easy too. It has lots of different toys and music and lights.

Anything she can chew on was and is still at 13 mo a big hit. Around 6 mo when she started understanding cause and effect she got really into her baby einstein radio and still loves that too. As she got closer to a year she got really into her Hape Pound and Tap bench, and this star stacker thing that lights up.

we have the vtech sit to stand walker that @LBee: posted. LO loves it.

other big hits are fisher price little people, (i bought him a barn and animals and my mom has the noah's ark set at her house. he LOVES them), fisher price stacking rings & shape sorter. those might be more fun once she's sitting up more, but LO plays with all of those things daily.

we also got a cool set of balls from Target (infantino brand i think) that are all different colors and textures. those might be fun for tummy time and to encourage crawling when the time comes.

Some ideas are:

http://www.amazon.com/Hohner-4-Piece-Baby-Band/dp/B000RGP4ZS
Still a huge hit at almost 11 months

http://www.amazon.com/VTech-Stand-Learning-Frustration-Packaging/dp/B0053X62GK
We used it as just the front part until recently (he now uses it as a walker) - he started really playing with it at about 5 months. It made tummy time a lot more exciting.

Oh and instruments! Bells are her favorite but she loves her maraca and whatever other things we have accumulated.

I have to say, as soon as she could sit it was like a whole new world opened for toys and you guys are almost there!

This shape sorter has been a huge hit, I love that it's so versatile, we build with the blocks, use the lid like a puzzle, flip it over to use as a drum, hide stuff inside etc. It is by far our most used toy.

Second is stacking cups, we like the star ones by green toys.

Everything else we have she plays with but isn't super in love with. I did put together a few Montessori style "treasure baskets" and they are the other thing that gets a lot of play.

My daughter is 4 months this week. She has a few toys, mostly gifts and hand me downs and I want to get a couple more she might really enjoy or grow into. What were come of your favorite toys for under 1?

Right now she loves her Wubbanubs- not the bink part, just holding them, a stuffed puppy with rings on it, a crib mirror that has an attached stuffed monkey, her Ikea playgym, and a stuffed sheep rattle/teether. She also digs her Prince lionheart chair (like a Bumbo). We have 3 areas where she hangs the most so I would like 2 options in each area. She is teething, can grasp with both hands, roll back to front and scoot on her belly towards things she wants.
