maybe just set up a few heavy chairs next to each other up beside/against the couch, so he go a farther distance? :)

walkers never worked for us either, too much falling and hitting his chin! thankfully we have a big L shaped low couch in our tiny apt. that is good for cruising :)

Our coffee table and couch was the best thing for our little guy. We went with the recommendation not to use walkers, plus any we tried out just went too fast for him.

The learning table mentioned above was also a cruising favorite.

I dont know of any toys designed specifically for cruising. But in general i think it is pretty easy to use what you have. If LO pulls up on one end of the couch, put a toy nearby but out of reach and encourage him to get it. Coffee tables and full clothes hampers are also great for this--my LO used to do laps! Eventually she cruised on anything including the wall. I would try not to spend too much because it is such a short phase.

@californiadreams: besides a walker toy I think this would http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001H0GF10 in the third layout. My son also loves cruising along our bed and the long baby gate that surrounds our hearth.

I want to get something for our play area at home so my LO can practice cruising. He is an expert at pulling to stand now, but we just have a single couch in his play area so not really enough room to cruise. I was thinking of long cushion-y foot stool type thing, but I wanted to know if there are toys/activity centers made with cruising in mind.

any suggestions?
Thanks!
