We skipped training pants and went straight to underwear. It made more sense to me financially.

We did the 18M Gerber training pants at 23 months with DD. We then moved to the 2T cheap character underwear from Target - everything else seems to be too big (esp Old Navy).

DS was around 20lbs when we potty trained him. We bought 2T character underwear from target, and they worked. They were a little big, but the stayed in him (unlike his shorts or pants :silly: ) He is still wearing them (almost 2 years later) and he's 3ft and 25lbs now.

@lilyofthewest: Those undies aren't really worth it. At that age they usually have a full on accident, not a few drops.

@erinbaderin: The only difference is a few extra layers of crotch cloth so you have less mess to clean up with accidents (usually only wet clothes, not wet clothes and wet floor/furniture).

I'm not sure what the difference between training pants and underwear is, but B is also very tall/skinny and he wears the H&M 18-24 underwear or Walmart 2T - they both fit him fine. Pampers 2T pull-ups also fit him.

We used regular panties in 2T/3T size (pull-ups in the same size). My girl is quite thin but shorter, and yes they were baggy a bit but they didn't fall off.

My sons has similar dimensions and he fits the Gerber training pants just fine. I just washed them on hot the first time. He also has regular boy's briefs from Vaenait Baby (they have an eBay store - its a Korean brand and I'm Korean and love their stuff because its cut for skinnier kids). For clothing I usually size up a lot of VB because DS1 is so tall, but for the underwear, their sizing was spot on. I mention this, because my son seems to do a LOT better with telling me he needs to use the potty when he's using the briefs than the training pants.

We're going to try potty training my 25-month-old in a few weeks. He is tall and skinny -- about 35" tall, 22lbs. He's wearing mostly 2T girls pants and boys pajama shirts because they're cut narrow enough while still long/tall enough.

I'm noticing that a lot of training pants come with their smallest size being 2T/3T with the bottom end of the weight range being 25+lbs.

So far, I've identified that Burt's Bees comes in an 18mo size and KickeePants reviews all say they run small.

Are there other training pants out there that you would recommend?
