Our transition from infant to toddler room was horrendous at first, but now it's fantastic! LO used to nap just 20 minutes a day in the infant room (even as an infant!!!) and once she moved to toddlers began sleeping one solid 1.5-2 hour nap. She has also flourished with expanding her skills and vocabulary because she is being challenged more on a daily basis. Good luck with your transition!

Ours transitions at 12 months - 2 weeks before they have them start napping on a mat in the infant room and visiting the new room each day.

I too was nervous about naps - I though how in the heck will you keep him awake until 1pm??? The 1st week or so they let him go down right after lunch, so 1230 but then they slowly pushed it to 1pm with the others.

I'm hoping his transition to the cots will help with the transition out of the crib someday!.

DS started transitioning over around 11 months since he had been walking for awhile. At 12 months he was over there full time. I was worried about naps too but the teachers are right there and once he got used to the cots he started sleeping better.

My LO moved up at 13.5 months and she did fine on a cot! She started napping regularly after that!

Our daycare starts the transition at 17 months and the official room change is when they turn 18 months. They use the month to get used to sleeping on floor cots, weaning from paci's, getting to know the toddler teachers/kids/routines, etc.

I just got notice that DS is going to start being transitioned to the toddler room starting on Monday. Apparently they've been having him and the other 2 kids that are his age spend some time with in the new room and they've been doing great. DS is 13.5 m right now.

I'm worried about naps. The toddler room all naps at the same time and on cots. DS has only slept in a crib and usually rolls all over the place. I'm sure he'll get used to it but I can see him just rolling right off a few times! I'm actually not worried about the moving to one nap as DS is a horrible napper at daycare and we're lucky if we get one out of him. Thankfully, he makes up for it on the weekends!

When did your LO transition and how did that go?
