We went from Merlin to the Zipadeezip and it went super, super smoothly -- way easier than I expected. I would highly recommend the zipadeezip!

We probably used the Merlin longer than we should have. When she started rolling over, we immediately tried to transition her out and it was HORRIBLE. It was the worst sleep we had ever seen and it didn't get better for the 5 days we tried. So clearly she wasn't ready. She loved her Merlin. So we let her keep it. She would roll over in it, scrunch in a ball, and could flip any which way. So we weren't too worried about safety. So about a month later we decided to just try again, just for fun. She didn't ask for it, she went to sleep immediately, and that it was it. Just like that! We didn't use a sleep suit or anything. So for my LO, it was all about the right timing.

@BabyTsMom: That's great! Did you switch to a sleepsack at that point or just PJ's with nothing else?

we got rid of it between 5-6 months and I was so worried about it. in reality, he transitioned very well. He woke up early and never went back to sleep, maybe twice, because he had rolled, but no motn wakeups or anything. It went much better than I'd expected!

@HappyBaker: believe me, it felt like no end in sight. Leaving the apartment and realizing I forgot multiple burp cloths was cause for panic. Our couch and rug are just covered, need a deep clean. I'm throwing away the one in his room because FTM over here thought a cream colored wool rug would look just lovely in a baby's room! Ha! It is so stained it's disgusting.
Then one day about 3 weeks ago I looked at my husband and said "hmmm. I don't remember the last time he spit up. I think it's been a couple of days". So then we realized it stopped almost completely except for an occasional dribble. And now very occasionally he'll have a bigger one but still not even close to what it used to be. And that's when we're like "whoa where did that come from?!" I actually think it might be related to yogurt but I need to test that theory!
Anyway - slight deviation from your original question but glad it's helpful ;-)

@SweetiePie: The fact that your spitter slowed down at 6 months gives me hope, I can not even imagine a day where spit up is a surprise! We literally carry beach towels with us around the house because he is spewing everywhere at all times. Thanks :-)

@HappyBaker: mine was an insane spitter-upper too! Like, rivers! It was a small problem for a little while, not gonna lie. (Again, I say small because looking back in the grand scheme of things some spit up isnt a huge deal, though at the time I was so frustrated). I'd say it slowed down around 6 months and now at 9 months a spit up is a surprise. He rarely does it!
As my doc always put it, it's not a health problem, it's a laundry problem ;-)

@Pancakes: Thanks! Yes for us it has been amazingly magical which is why I am terrified to stop :-)

@SweetiePie: Thanks so much for sharing your experience, I hope ours goes well too! I woke up at 4am and checked the monitor to find him on his belly in it, so I went in and put him in a sleepsack. He proceeded to roll all over the crib and get pissed because he kept hitting the sides, and then threw up everywhere (he is a big spitter and being on his belly doesn't help!) Hoping tonight goes better if we start with the sack!

We went cold turkey from Merlin (which he LOVED) to a sleep sack around 4 months. We had maybe a week (maybe less def not more) of spotty naps because he just wanted to roll around and be free. And a few wake ups at night just because he rolled to his tummy and didn't like it, but I just flipped him back and he went right back to sleep. We did eventually let him CIO on his tummy and now it's one of his preferred sleep positions :-)
All in all it wasn't bad, just a blip on the radar. Like almost anything in parenting! Seems worse leading up to and maybe during, but looking back it really wasn't a big deal.

We transitioned to a sleep sack cold turkey around that time, and it really wasn't a big deal, but to be honest, the Merlin suit wasn't really magic for us so that may have made a difference.

I was hoping this day would never come. DS who is 5 months old just figured out how to roll to his belly in his Sleepsuit, so we need to stop using it cold turkey. Any tips / how did this transition go for you? How long did it take for them to sleep ok without it?
