We got an inflatable tub. We have both the Mommy's Helper tub and the Munchkin duck tub (one's at Grandma's house). It uses way less water than trying to use our soaking tub and it keeps the water at DS' tummy level and keeps his toys floating near him. He's 16 months and very tall and fits just fine in his tubs. He graduated out of his Fisher Price infant whale tub around 9 months I think? We got the Mommy's Helper one first because it has a saddle you can blow up and it helps keep them sitting up. Now he doesn't really need it and does fine without it or in the duck tub. We just had him use the adult tub at a hotel on vacation and he liked it just fine, but again, took a lot more water and we had to really keep an eye on him more. We keep a nonslip gripper mat on the big tub itself and an inflatable faucet cover in case he gets out, but we're pretty firm about butts down in the tub.

We don't fill it up up either. I put him in once the water is warm and let the water fill up as I bathe him. Once I soap him all over, I pull the drain to release the dirty water and rinse him off.

We don't have a non-slip mat, but we probably should. Fortunately, he stays seated unless I tell him to stand up (so I can wash his legs, bum, and private parts), but I hold onto him while I do that. Once I'm done soaping and rinsing, I tell him to sit back down, and he happily does.

He's 2.5. He's been in the big tub since 1 year?

There is some kind of pièce you can buy for bathtubs so that you only use half of it and therefore only have to fill half. I remember looking into it briefly at our old house because we only had a massive soaker tub, but I haven't looked since we moved because we have a regular bath tub.

Did a quick Google and came up with this: http://babydam.com/

It looks pretty cool!

We transitioned around a year and only fill it up a few inches. I got tired of taking the nonslip mat in and out and cleaning it so she has learned she needs to stay seated or bath is over.

We put a non-slip bathmat in the bottom of the tub and DD loves it. We just don't fill the tub all the way up so it doesn't take so much water.

ETA: DD is 7 months old and has been in the adult tub for a couple months at this point (basically since she learned to sit up on her own).

I think it's time to transition my DD to the regular adult tub. However, our tub is huge and takes forever to fill up. I'm wondering if there are products out there that people have found that reduce the amount of water you need to put in the tub. Either something that takes up volume or something that successfully blocks off a portion of the tub.

Also, do people put something on the bottom of the tub to prevent their kids from slipping accidentally? My DD is very active so I can totally see that happening.
