LO is 3.5 months and was doing 7-9 hours at night in the swing in our room. I decided a few weeks ago to move the swing to his room and from there, transition to the crib.

Since then, he's up literally every 1-3 hours. Literally no other changes. It's awful. No advice at all, sorry. :((

So it hasn't gotten much better... He naps pretty well in there during the day with a paci and falls asleep on his own at night, but has been up every 2-3 hours after weeks of sleeping 6 in a row. Not sure if I should nurse him or stick a paci in. He sleeps in a lightweight sleep sack instead of a swaddle since he started to roll and always ends up spinning 180 degrees!

I'm going to do a bit more research on the Merlin suit and zipadeezip, and might experiment with the nest idea. Last night I almost just assembled the PnP next to my bed!

With DS1, we transitioned him into the crib @ 3.5 months. Prior to that he was in the Arm's reach cosleeper. It went pretty smooth, and it was harder for me since I missed him.

DS 2 is 7 weeks and he already is sleeping on his crib at night, although we take turns sleeping in the spare bed in his room. He is still swaddled though. And his longest stretch of sleep has been 4 hours.

If he hasn't rolled yet, I'd still swaddle...or buy a lightweight sleep sack.

@YogiRunner: @MrsSRS: I second the Merlin Sleep Suit. Started using it her first night in her crib at 11 weeks, and it was a great transitioner both out of the bassinet and the swaddle. We aren't getting great sleep, but it is better than it was cosleeping.

I would get a merlin sleep suit. It's amazing.

I would give it a few more nights (I know that's not what you want to hear!). He may just need more time to get used to it.

You could also try a zipadeezip, which won't be too confining for him since he's so little, but will provide at least a little resistance when he starts flailing and is perfectly safe for when he rolls over.

I moved my three from arms reach co sleeper to crib at five months when they started pushing up/crawling. The cosleeper is only rated for three months I think but they weren't ready to move to the crib at that point. My girls have all been 99% in height and they fit well enough.
I put them straight into the crib without any nests or anything. It was no big deal for any of them, they all made the transition quickly and easily.

@YogiRunner: LO isn't in her crib yet, but she is in a PnP next to our bed. We did what @BabyTsMom mentioned and put a beach towel under the crib sheet. It seems to help her feel more cozy and contained. She's still up every 3 hours at night right now (I think the 4mo. regression is hitting us a little early...) but always falls back asleep very quickly.

@BabyTsMom: I was about to call out "Bueller... Bueller..." But we used to lightly swaddle with both arms out just to give him that cozy contained feeling, but now that he's rolling I don't feel comfortable doing that. So it's either a sleep sack or nothing.

The nest is an interesting idea. He is just so much more mobile these days, kicking his legs in the air and flailing his arms and he spins a full 360 each night! So maybe you're on to something, all that moving around the big crib could be waking him up...

(Thank you!)

@YogiRunner: is he still using a swaddle? Maybe he's startling himself awake?
We moved our LO around 10 weeks; prior to that he was in a rock-n-play-type of bassinet. I was a little worried that the crib would seem so huge, since the bassinet was so much smaller.... One thing I did to make him feel more cozy was to make a sort of nest with towels, and placed it under the crib sheet. I felt it was more snug for him. I don't know if it help, but he seemed to do fine!

We're on night 2 of our 3 month old sleeping in his crib in his room. Before that he's done really well at night in the arms reach cosleeper that we use as a bassinet right next to the bed. He just seems too big for it now and he's been rolling on his side. I started by putting him in the crib for one then two naps all last week and he did pretty well.

Well, at night LO went from sleeping 6 hours at a stretch back to 2-3. When he wakes up he does this little screech (he just learned how to make some petty ear-piercing noises!) and kicks and flails, so it seems like he's nowhere near falling back asleep on his own. I'll get up and nurse him back to sleep.

So I don't know if this is par for the crib transition course, if he's hitting his 4 month sleep regression early, or if I messed with a good thing by transitioning him too early. Either way I'm exhausted like the newborn days!

When did you make the move? How'd it go for you?
