My 11 month old is currently transitioning as well. Somedays she will only need one nap where other days she squeezes two in. Like yesterday, she had a one hour nap all day and was perfectly happy and slept 11 hrs last night. I think they will just do it on their own, and not somethin that will be set in stone overnight.

That pretty much how C did, except she did it at 12 months instead of 10.5. She sleeps like 7pm-9am and then takes a 2-3 hour nap around 1pm, give or take.

She started sleeping longer in the morning too.

@Mrs. Bee: She actually seems to be okay with it the past few days. I might have to wake her like 30 minutes earlier tomorrow so we can see how that goes but she seems okay with it. I've been trying to lay her down when I know she normally gets tired and she just plays in her crib and then gets up and cries.

She also hasn't been showing sleep cues so I guess she's really just not tired. Today she didn't even really show any when I laid her down but finally she fell asleep at 1:10 so I guess she's fine.

That's some great nighttime sleep right there!

LO is only 8 months old and I'm afraid that he's trying to eliminate one of his naps! He sleeps 8:30/9pm - 6:30/7:30am. The days he gets up at 6:30, he will nap like a champ. The days he sleeps until 7:30 we struggle to get him to take a morning nap.

I think as long as she's getting enough sleep in a 24 hour period, you can eliminate the second nap.

@banana: True, it's almost like she added an extra hour at night and decided she only wants one during the day. So I guess as long as she's not getting overly tired, she's fine. I was totally not anticipating this until like 15 months old but it does work fine for us to only have the one!

if she can't handle the one nap schedule, you can always wake her up earlier so that she can get 2 naps a day.

Sounds like she's getting enough sleep in 24 hours so I think it should be fine. If she can go that long in between wake hours, then she might just be a one nap/day baby. My 10 mth old daughter would be cranky pants if she went longer than 3 hours between naps so she stills gets 2 naps. Plus she only sleeps 10 hours at night so she needs the extra sleep. I say go with whatever works for your you and your baby!

I think LO is trying to transition to one nap but I always heard this was too early. She's been gradually pushing her second nap back though and has been having trouble falling asleep at bedtime. The past couple of days she's tried to change up her naps totally. Sunday she had one nap from 1-2:30 and was able to fall right asleep at 7:30. Yesterday she napped from 10:30-12 like normal but then only napped for like 20 minutes in the afternoon. And today she just went down for her first nap at 1:10 so I assume this is the only one.

Has anyone else transitioned from 2 naps to 1 this early? She's always wanted more sleep than other kids but she's definitely still getting enough without the extra nap. She's been sleeping 7:30pm-9am and then taking a 1.5-2 hour nap still.
