We started at 4ish months, but she was used to getting one bottle a day, but at a different time. There was a phase where she wouldn't take the bottle from me, but after she got used to the bottle being part of the routine, she didn't care anymore.

When LO was 10 months, I stopped her bedtime nursing session cold turkey and on the first night she cried for about 20 seconds before falling asleep. Then after that, she was fine. LO rejected the bottle at 4 months so there was no hope there.

I'd love to know too! We tried bottle at bed time last night but it was a total disaster, DS cried hs eyes out and clamped his mouth shut. I think we'll start during the day and slowly move to bottle before bed, trying to introduce a new routine when baby is tired and cranky wasn't a good idea

@Sammyfab: I was thinking about the straw cup since she already drinks water from it and goes crazy when she sees it. Did she have any issues taking the bottle from you even though boobs were there? DH once forgot to put her in her sleep sack before i came up, so when i put her back in the crib to put her in the sack she started crying...it's like she thought i was putting her to sleep without giving her milk!

We transitioned to the bottle much earlier at 3 months. If your LO hasn't bad a bottle in a long time it may be easier to try a sippy or straw cup? Or even a regular cup? I think that if she already goes down awake and doesn't nurse to sleep, you should have an easy transition!

Just in case, our routine is bath, massage/lotion while my LO holds his own bottle and drinks on the change table, pajamas, sleep sack, bed. We've done this for the past 6.5 months!

LO is almost 8 months, and her bedtime routine after dinner is take a bath, get dressed, a little bit of crib playtime, and read a book....usually done by DH unless he works late. Then i will come upstairs to nurse her and will sing a few songs before i put her to bed (awake).

I want to reintroduce the bottle (we havent given her a bottle in months) at night so that she can get used to someone else doing the whole "put her to sleep" routine, but i am scared she will still want the boob.

Did anyone have a successful transition experience? When did you do it? Any advice?
