We are going through almost the exact same thing. We switched to strictly formula/solids/rice cereal as of three of four days ago and just today we had a dark green/seedy stool.

With all of the information that you can read about on the internet it's almost a 50/50 toss between this being perfectly normal and us having to be worried. Looks like we can try and call the pediatrician tomorrow if they're open but actually talking to her doctor is almost impossible, more than likely we get a nurse that doesn't know much about our LO.

When our daughter switched to formula it was more solid (like pudding) and green (still is.) I asked the doctor and she said that is normal for formula as long as it is not watery or too solid.

Thanks ladies...I might give the pediatrician a call tomorrow or Friday morning if his poops haven't improved.

@Mrsbells: He's 100% formula now since Monday (Sunday night was his very last breast milk bottle). Maybe it hasn't been enough time to gauge how his body is handling the formula.

@littlek: Hah...I'm going to try to forget that comparison as I love peanut butter ;o)

LO's poos got thick and pasty like pudding - the formula he is on (Nutramigen) makes them green (but if he has solids that are some other color like brown or orange then the poo is that color). That they are watery could mean that he has somethign else going on (tummy bug or reaction to formula).

whenever I add formula to her breastmilk it gets pasty. but her poop was only ever green when I gave her too much foremilk. Could it be that you are adding more fore milk to her bottles

The poop becomes more solid and looks more brown. This is an awful comparison, but kinda like peanut butter consistency.

My LO's poop immediately got more solid (sorta "pasty" - sorry for the TMI!) when we started the transition. It sometimes has a green tint to it but is more often tan/brown. You may want to give it a little more time though. It could just be his body adjusting. My doctor said it takes about two weeks for the full effect of a new formula to be seen.

My LOs stools are watery & green because he has about 70% formula and 30% BM (which explains the watery part

We transitioned to formula around the same time we introduced solids. But I will say that a lot of times, hers is dark green (sometimes it's brown). But I would worry a little bit about the watery stools. It won't hurt to call the doctor or nurse and ask.

We didn't experience any green or watery poop.. it just became very pasty. I would probably check with the pediatrician, but may others have had some different experiences...

Earlier this week, we started transitioning LO from breast milk to formula. About a month and a half ago, we already had been supplementing his bedtime feeding with one formula bottle. His other 4 bottles were expressed breast milk. Then about 3 weeks ago, we started supplementing another bottle with formula.

This week was his first few days of all formula. His poops have been dark green and watery for the most part. Last night, it was a little more solid, but my caretaker sent me a picture of his poop today, and it's dark green and watery again. Anyone else experience this? What did your LO's poops look like during the transition? Just wondering if I should call the doc to see if he's allergic to the formula. We're using Enfamil Gentlease.
