I am trying to remember exactly how we did it (it all seems like a blur now) but I think we swaddle weaned first then transitioned to the crib soon after. I think LO was over 6 months by the time we moved him to his crib and seemed pretty cramped in the co-sleeper. It was rough at first but then improved once he was accustomed to the new environment/routine.

@OpinionsLikeKittens: Bumping this for you, because I was going to write the exact same post! LO sleeps from 9 AM - 7 PM with a few wakeups for binky (but I tend to do those in my sleep). He's in a cosleeper attached to our bed. He's outgrowing it at 5 months. I'm thinking we're going to need to move him into his crib by 6 months and I'm nervous! More for my own sanity; I'd hate to have to leave our room 3 times a night to put a pacifier back in.

Currently, we're trying out the Magic Sleepsuit to see if we can get him used to arms out, and eventually have him in just a fleece sleeper. I think if we can conquer that, he'd do a lot better in a crib!

@Foodnerd81: Yes, he rolls back to tummy but can't remember how to roll tummy to back... so I have been scared of swaddling. Maybe I'll try the swaddle tonight while we're awake watching and then reassess so he can at least get used to sleeping flat.

Is there a reason you aren't swaddling him in the crib- did he start rolling? The first night we did arms out if rife swaddle she was up every hour for the first half if the night- I think she kept startling herself awake. It got better for the next night and then she really got the hang of soothing herself. But her sleep was so bad at that point thT we had nothing to lose!

What strategy did you use when moving your LO from co-sleeper to crib? My baby is 5 months old and currently sleeping in the graco version of the rock and play while swaddled. We're trying to move him to his crib b/c he is pretty long and honestly looks a little cramped.

Right now he sleeps from 7-8ish to 6 or 7 in the morning (there are a few belly rubs and putting the pacifier back in, but only 30 seconds of disrupted sleep at a time in the current situation). The past two nights we've put him in the crib and eventually had to move him back to the co-sleeper b/c he was miserable! He has been waking up every half hour to be soothed. I know it is a lot of changes at once as we aren't swaddling him in the crib, so I'm just looking for other perspectives / stories.

Right now the game plan is to put him in his crib and deal with the frequent wake ups until we want to go to bed and then move him. I'm hoping this gets him used to the crib... but night two looks a lot like night one so far!
