@MrsBrewer: @winter_wonder: Thanks for the ideas! It has gotten much better. It just took a few days to adjust.

@SugarMaple: We finally transitioned. It took awhile, naps definitely weren't easy. what we ended up doing was putting a pillow under the crib mattress, and rolling up a towel under the crib sheet to mimic the cocoon feeling of the rock n play. We are going to take away the cocoon tonight I think and see how that goes.

@MrsBrewer: how did it go?

My 13 week old only sleeps in the rock n play. I tried transitioning her to the pack n play (in our room) and it was a total fail. For example last night her longest sleep stretch was 1 1/2 hours, then 45 minutes, then she was WIDE AWAKE at 3am. The previous nights I gave up after the first early wake-ups and put her in the rnp.
She doesn't sleep that great in the rnp either, but ok. 8am-12am, then a 2am wake-up, and from 4am on anything goes :/ Usually unsettled and cat napping.

@MrsBrewer: my first was a great sleeper in her r+p and we didn't want to mess it up. She slept in there until she was 5 months old when she started getting squirmy at night and wanted space. We moved her to the crib with zero issue.

@MrsBrewer: I just did it! Right into playpen beside the bed (wasn't ready to kick them out of our room) went totally fine. Slept the same.

We just did this 2 weeks ago with our 10 week old. I was dreading it, but it ended up being just fine. I created a little “nest” under the sheet with a rolled up towel. It mimics the snuggly feeling of the Rock n Play and I thought was a good transition.

Are you still using the actual rocking or vibration too? I know some don’t do that automatically, but ours plugs in the wall and would go all night. I started by dropping that for a week first so he got used to no motion.

I was scared to transition, especially the first time, waited until LO was 5 months!, but it went really well both times!!

My LO 1 I did naps in crib first. Then at night I would start him in the crib and when he woke up would move back to RnP. First night he made it an hour, next night was 3, etc... took a week. Second time was even easier somehow!

@MrsBrewer: I think I did for like 2 weeks hardcore, but after that he was transitioned. I just took a pair of huge gym socks of DH's, filled them with rice, and then just nuked them until they were warm. Then I would set them down on the mattress to make a warm spot while I got him ready for bed, and then I would press them against his waist/hips (well away from his face, basically) once I put him down.

@LCTBQE: Tell me about it....he's an amazing sleeper! But yes to the incline, I've heard that before. I'm just worried it won't feel as snug and cozy as he's used to, you know?

We did incline our mattress - mostly for reflux reasons. With DS2, I moved him to a bassinet or a PNP that had one of my dirty nursing tanks under the sheet for scent, swaddled him in a warmer swaddle and then placed warm rice socks on either side of him so that he had a warm/held feeling that he got in my arms or in the RNP.

But we transitioned our kids out of the RNP early, at 6 weeks max.

I was scared to do this too, we actually waited until almost 6 months, but then moved her to the pack and play and it was a non-issue.
She was and still is a great sleeper!

We transitioned our baby at 6 weeks (he was big and outgrowing the RnP) into his regular crib at the urging of our ped. I thought it was going to be a huge ordeal, and it was a complete non-issue--literally nothing changed. But wow that is an amazing sleeper you have on your hands! I can see why you don't want to rock the boat, but maybe it'll be the same :)
If the baby doesn't do that well, what about trying a slight incline to the mattress and then lowering it over the course of a few days? I feel like gingerbebe or maybe some others tried that with success.

Help! My 14 week old is still in the Rock N Play for some naps, and at night! I need to transition him out, but I'm afraid.....

He's sleeping from 8pm - 6am right now, and I really don't want to mess that up...

Please someone tell me it won't be that bad?
