@MamaChin: I'm sorry I only get to reply to you now. Life got in the way. My first thought was before the move but then usually a move starts with packing up stuff etc quite a bit before the actual move. And little people seem to have an antenna for things like this. But I'd trust your mummy instincts if you think she'll be fine then by all means get her started earlier:-)

@Pumuckl: do you think I should start her before the move? Logistically it would be easier for me to have no kids a few mornings a week to pack and unpack, but I feel a little bit selfish. It MAY make it easier for her to deal with daycare if she's still in the same home though?

As someone who has just moved and whose kid started a new daycare my advice would be to do it one at time when you have the possibility to do so. Even my really easygoing 2year old had a hard time adjusting to all of the changes at once (and he was at the new home 2 weeks before we started daycare and still his sleep was miserable for 2 weeks after starting at the new daycare). So I'd wait until September since she'll probably sense the changes going on before moving houses.

I don't have experience with this but if she isn't good with new situations I wouldn't want to move and start daycare all at the same time.

I'd start daycare either before or after the move.

Need some advice mamas! We are moving in August and I'm concerned about the kids' transitions. I have a 2.5 year old and a 15 month old. The older boy I'm not so worried about, he is pretty easy going and will continue to go to the same daycare 3x a week. I was going to start my girl at daycare a couple days a week in August but now coupled with the move I'm not so sure? That is a lot of change all at once. She is pretty clingy and takes a long time to warm up to people, even people she sees often. It took her 6 months to smile and wave at my son's daycare teacher and we see her 6 times a week!

Should I start her at the same time as the move? Wait for her to get used to the new house, then start daycare in Sept? Start daycare a couple weeks before the move? Any advice to ease the transition in new home and/or daycare is appreciated!
