I really want to transition DS before I go back to work (which is a week away) but I'm so anxious about losing sleep. Ugh.

@MapleMoose: @daniellemybelle: Have you tried it yet?

So the towel goes around their feet not head? Going to try this after we get back from Thanksgiving!

@ladybee: Sounds exactly like my LO. Only likes being swaddled in her Halo sleep sack with arms out, and every time we try to put her down in the crib she wakes right up after flailing awake. Thanks for asking this. DD is also 6 weeks and we aren't ready to transfer her to the crib at night yet but I'm glad to read these responses because we are trying to get her to nap in the crib during the day and it's just not happening. Going to try the towel trick.

@ladybee: I have the towel under the crib sheet and it only goes up to her underarms. She sleeps swaddled and doesn't roll over yet.

We tried at 6 weeks & she wasn't having it either. I tried again at 8 weeks and I used a rolled up blanket on either side of her underneath her armpits, and it worked. We didn't even put it under the sheet. She didn't move much at that point, so I didn't worry. As soon as she could consistently roll over & was scooting around the crib I removed the blankets. She's been a fantastic crib sleeper ever since.

We didn't transfer until 6 or 7 months, lol. It was a little touch and go the first few nights but he absolutely loves his bed now! We layed him on his side and rolled up a blanket behind him to make him feel "snuggled". I know any safety expert would be horrified to hear that but we did what we thought was right for our child. I wouldn't recommend that for a young baby who can't roll or lift up their own head well.

You could roll up a towel and place it under the crib sheet so LO won't suffocate from the blanket.

We had DS in the RnP until he was 5.5 mos because of reflux and he slept better in it. When we did transition we used the Merlin magic sleep suit and it helped a ton! I think you have to wait until 3 mos to use those though...

I did mrs. blue's towel trick, the one with the nest. It worked so great. We had to transition her at 4 months because she was trying to climb out of the RnP

Is there a reason you want to do it now? Our transition to crib from RnP wasn't too painful, but we did it later-- well, we went back and forth, actually-- she was in the crib fine, then started having gas and reflux issues so back into the RnP, then back to the crib... At 6 weeks though, I don't think there is a rush to put him into the crib?

We had a bigger issue with leaving her arms out-- the first night she woke herself up every hour. After that, she started moving herself all over the crib, rotating like the hand on a clock, so the towel idea would have annoyed her I think.

@mrsjyw: @Jennimac: I'm so worried about SIDS (like all moms). Is the towel idea safe? How long did you leave the towel there for?

That's what we do with our LO. She slept in the newborn napper and then got too big for it. We rolled up a towel or a blanket under a crib sheet and then put her in the middle of the U.

ds was not a fan of swaddling either. we used a rolled towel underneath the crib sheet to snuggle him during the transition! worked like a charm!

LO is 6 weeks old and has been sleeping in his RnP. I'd really like to transition him to his crib and have been trying for the last week. He will not tolerate it. I don't think he likes the big open space. When watching him on the monitor his crazy arms seem to wake him up a lot.

Any suggestions?

ETA: he doesn't like to be swaddled, not even one arm in. Right now he sleeps in a Halo Sleep Sack (Swaddle) with his arms out.
