We just moved to Duplos at 3 so we'll stick with those for a while until she asks for Legos.

@honeybear: Good to know! I did not know they were compatible. That makes my decision easier

I think I'll be adding to her Duplos just because of Peppa Pig. I didn't want to open a whole new world of loose figures, so I opted for a building block set with figures (not Lego but it's supposed to be compatible). If it is the same size as the Duplo figures, then they're also compatible with Sylvanian/Calico Critter clothes. It's odd, but DD seems to like dressing them even though she doesn't dress her normal dolls. Weird.

LO will be 3 in December, and we're planning on getting her the Duplo fire station set. That'll be her last Duplo though. After that, I think we'll get her Lego, but probably not till her next birthday/Christmas. I think she'll keep playing with them.

I got some regular Legos for LO at 3. Don't ditch the Duplos. They fit together with the 2x4 bricks and my LO still likes and uses the Duplos daily, even 2 years after getting 'real' ones. At 3, I bought the sets that are basically just puzzles that make a toy, and I helped a lot at first.

We have a few Lego Junior sets, they are normal Lego size, but with bigger ready-made pieces. Truthfully though we never had Duplos and went straight to Legos around 3.5 yo.

If your LO has Lego Duplo, at what age did you transition to the normal Legos? DD is 3 and still plays with her Duplos. DH is itching to buy the normal Lego sets, but I'm wondering if it's too early. At the same time, I don't want to add on to it if she'll like the normal ones as well.

Going by the recommended age range filter on the Lego website, there's an overlap in sets. Both the Duplos and the Classic Legos fit into her age group.
