I use this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EED795I/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?qid=1386180079&sr=1-9&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

It might be too girly for a boy but the similar items on the page may be of use to you.

And sometimes add a sweatshirt with hood or thin fleece jacket with hood. I actually worry about her overheating in the car.

@danda: We have the Keyfit30 with the insert and the head support already removed. (had to remove those a while ago! haha) But I admit, I am using a bundleme (which I know some say is unsafe) but I haven't gotten around to figuring out the blanket situation just yet. I think I may just need to remove the Bundleme and dress baby in a sweater with a blanket on top until he is ready to transition to the convertible in a few months.

Just curious - do you have a Keyfit 22 or 30? Have you removed both the insert and the headrest? My 5 month old is around 16-17 pounds right now and she's ok in her Keyfit 30 but would scream every time I strapped her in until I removed the head support (newborn insert removed at 11 pounds). Also not sure what you're dressing your LO on but make sure to not put any puffy clothes on under the car seat straps as a general car seat safety principle. It's gotten cold here and I put her in normal clothes plus a hat, then strap her in, then put a thick blanket snuggle around her such that she can't pull it over her face.

We transitioned DS at around 7 months to a convertible car seat. We could have done it sooner. By the time he sat up well on his own at around 5 months, we stopped taking the chicco car seat out the car. We used a stroller or sat him in a high chair.

I barely used the infant bucket outside of the car, I found it to be a pain to carry and my son was never sleeping in there anyway.

C was 17lbs at 4 months and 21lbs by 6 months, she is also VERY tall. She started sitting unassisted at 5 months.

We actually didn't move her into a convertible until 9 months, but that was more procrastinating because I couldn't decide what one I wanted. I mostly just wore her in the Ergo until she could sit.

PS. I LOVE our Graco My Size 70 convertible. If he's tall like my girl, it's perfect. Chicco NextFit was the runner up.

I never carried LO around in the car seat. i either wore him, or had him in the stroller. at 4 months I could strap him into the stroller tight enough that I just put him the the normal seat

We transitioned at 4 months because LO was so heavy in his carseat. I just wore him in the boba, and I think around 5 months he was steady enough to sit in the cart if needed.

LO is 4 months old, can't sit by himself yet but is already 17 lbs and looking quite squeezed in his chicco carseat. It doesn't help that its become quite cold here in chicago, which means thicker clothes for the LO.

I am looking into getting a convertible carseat for him but am curious what other moms of young chubby babies do. If you get a convertible, what do you do when you are out and about...carry the baby or baby wear everywhere? (i.e. grocery store)
