I hope your LO flips for you and you are able to get the birth you want! :goodluck:

@Mrs.Panda: Haha that made me laugh so hard! :) I have a few asian friends like that too. Sorry to hear there aren't that many around you! It is also hard to make new friends. Most of my asian friends are from middle school! Haha.

@Kemma: That's such a funny story! Thanks for sharing. I wonder though. :) For me the ECV didn't seem so bad either! Too bad I wasn't eligable.

@Raindrop: my first midwife was quite "crunchy" and her theory was that LO flipped herself breech because I had been really busy and she was trying to get closer to my heartbeat.

And my thought process with the ECV was that the risk of an early c-section was tiny at 0.05% but even with only a 50% success rate it at least still gave me a shot at a "normal" delivery.

@Raindrop: my mom has her fair share of superstitions! Just not many related to pregnancy. She did say things about like cravings and stuff like that, just nothing about positioning or anything more concrete. I wish I had more Asian friends, there just aren't that many around here. The last encounter I had with an Asian acquaintance, he started gesturing to a very crowded room and saying "F these white people!" It was a strange experience lol

Having so many asian family and friends is both a blessing and a curse ... especially when it comes to supersitions. :) Sometimes they are in your favor which makes you feel good and some times they are not! Haha.

@Raindrop: lol I don't really have many Asian friends, just my mom, and she wouldn't tell me anything like that because she always defers to me on anything medical since I'm a nurse :silly: though I will say those breech baby moves from spinning babies really worked. She would keep flipping back to transverse, I would do the moves before an ultrasound and she would get in the right position. Try it out!

@erwoo: Half of the people I know passed on ECV too! They thought if that the baby will do it naturally if it was meant to be. I wish I was that easy going! I just took my OB advise. :) Thanks for the well wishes and sharing your story!

@Mrs.Panda: Haha that's good to know! Thanks for sharing. Yeah I'm a little suspious of that old wives tale! Also every asian person I know told me not to do the ECV and *just* talk to the baby ... he will turn if I talk to him enough. OMG asian supersitions really kill me because ALL of my asian friends and family truely truely believe it and tell me things like they are serious facts and forget what doctors says. Grrr! Well they got their way I couldn't even get an ECV! Haha.

There is always a chance but prepare for anything, really. My oldest was transverse and then went breech on me around 33/34 weeks. I know there is a window to do ECV according to my OB. I passed on it b/c I was afraid of the risks of going into labor early. I ended up with a c-section b/c he just didn't move. Aside from funny legs (he was jack knifed!) he was fine and his legs were fine after some swaddling. ;) Good luck and I hope he turns at the last minute! :D

@Charm54: Oh very interesting. Thanks for the info... All the stuff on the internets say that it's a definite c-section for transverse babies. Good to know you were able to delivery vaginally still!

@lollipop: Sweet! Did you do anything special to encourage your baby to turn or did it just happen without doing anything?

@Kemma: Thanks for the advise. Seriously every free moment will be doing something to try to get this kid to turn now. Haha. I'm glad I'm not the only one doing stuff like this.

@Happygal: Fingers crossed for you too girl!

@twodoghouse: I remember reading your birth story!! What an interesting birth. Thank you for resharing! I'm so happy for your twins.

@Rockies11: That makes me feel so much better! Thank you so much. It gives me hope the ECV they do on my c-section day might be successful.

@808love: Haha Thank you thank you! :)

@Mrs.Panda: Wow your little one was quite a mover! Thanks for sharing. How is she? My Asian family and friends keep telling me... that trouble in the womb means easy going baby. :) So not to worry... once he's out.. he will be a breeze... I'm not sure if that's true. Haha.

Yep during the last couple of weeks my LO flipped all over, usually staying transverse. She was breech when my c-section was scheduled and when they did an ultrasound to confirm her position the week of the procedure, she had flipped head down. The night before I thought I felt her transverse, and I guess I was right. Even though she ended up head down I still ended up with a section due to failure to progress after induction.

I did no singing!! DH did flashlight with iPod then we tried ukulele and guitar. Have fun and I pray all goes smoothly with delivery, one way or another.

@Raindrop: I don't have any stats or anything except to say that transverse is a lot more hopeful than the full breeches. Mine was in a really awkward Frank Breech and didn't budge an inch on the ECV attempts. I know from my reading and from all the doctors that transverse had a way, way higher chance of a successful flip. With Frank Breech, they gave me 20 percent odds of success with an ECV.

My son was transverse the whole time, but he was a twin so he didn't have room to flip on his own. Since my daughter was head down, we proceeded with a vaginal delivery with the hope that he would turn one way or the other once she was out. (Breech delivery usually isn't a problem in twin deliveries as the first baby "paves the way" so to speak). After my daughter was born, my son actually went further up into my ribs so I had two midwives ready to go to attempt the external version. We lost his heartbeat trying to turn him so he ended up a csection. I really hope your little one turns on his own soon!

Following along as we're in the same boat, although I'm a little further ahead of you!

I read this today and was a good reminder about the necessity of keeping a sense of humor: http://www.pregnantchicken.com/pregnant-chicken-blog/2011/7/24/how-to-turn-a-breech-baby.html

I'm not going crazy with it, but I have done the frat girl, the sweaty vampire, and the Ice, Ice Baby (coupled with a heating pad down below as a nice alternative for her to flip towards).

@Raindrop: my first LO flipped herself breech at around 34 weeks and would occasionally hangout in a transerse position trying to flip herself back round. I had a successful, quick and painless ECV at just over 38 weeks and went on to have a vaginal delivery at 41+ weeks.

I spent lots of time crawling on my hands and knees and lying upside down on a strong board with my feet on the couch and head close to the floor. Fingers crossed that Babe flips for you!!

Yeah my OB and the doctor today said that babies kind of have their own minds... doing the spinning baby things and all the other stuff could help because it definitely doesn't hurt but sometimes kids will just do what they want. :) I'm glad it worked out for you!

@Raindrop: I was told my baby was transverse at maybe 34 weeks? I posted about it back then freaking out. I did all the spinning babies stuff constantly, even at work, and I had a couple moxibustion appointments and I turned upside down in the swimming pool all the time(it was summer and our building had a pool). I had a positioning ultrasound at 38 weeks and she was head down....

But I never felt her move, so who knows if anything helped or if she did it on her own.
